“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes”
End times man is deceived.
As such, he often claims his particular sin of choice is “not so bad.”
But ALL sin is a transgression against God Almighty.
“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
In fact, no matter how bad a man is, if you ask him, he will usually claim to be “not so bad.” Even if the man will usually refrain from calling himself a “good man,” he will more usually describe himself and his actions as “not bad.”
This is especially true of criminals. It is a well-known observation that one will never meet a guilty person in prison.
When caught, many criminals most usually claim they are a victim of circumstance.
Again, modern man often claims his sin is “not so bad“–comparatively speaking.
Several recent events illustrated this notion.
While in a public place, someone made the remark, “You do that so well! Your mother must be so proud of you.”
The answer was “I hope not. Pride is a sin.”
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
At this point, after a quizzical look, the conversation ceased.
Several weeks later, the conversation resumed as the same two people again crossed paths in that same public place.
“I’ve been thinking about what you said a few weeks ago. About pride being a sin? You know, there are so many other things so much worse than a little pride.”
In other words: you may say pride is a sin, but it’s not such a very bad sin.
The answer to this latest claim was a smile.
Left unsaid was the observation that the “It’s-not-so-bad” defense had just been played.
Also left unsaid was the fact that ALL sin leads to destruction; ALL sin makes God angry.
“Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”
“God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.”
“For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.”
One BIG reason the “It’s not so bad” defense is so popularly used to defend bad behavior is because it does work.
There is always SOMETHING else that could be worse.
BUT that dodges the point of calling out the bad behavior.
Which, one suspects, is the whole reason behind the “It’s not so bad” defense.
Which makes the “It’s not so bad” defense no defense at all.
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
DOES the reader believe he is a “good person“?
DOES the reader believe he has a “good heart“?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
