“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
–Matthew 24:12
The season of Christmas is supposedly the time of year the world celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.
Supposedly.
However, as most will attest, the name of Jesus is hard to find during the season which is named for him. Oh sure, there are the obligatory Jesus references on the day/night before Christmas Day.
But, that’s pretty much the extent of hearing the name of Jesus.
Many feel that the holiday is “festive” because men perhaps smile a little quicker and are freer with happy words.
This festive mood appears to account for most of the “spirit of Christmas.”
One observation for 2018: Christmas seems to be diminishing; to be slipping away. Even the playing of secular Christmas songs in stores seems to have faded. It is suspected this diminishing is to be expected when the birth of Jesus–the Bible’s praise of the day of one’s birth date is almost non-existent–has been replaced by rampant consumerism and greed.

Greed IS a popular sin.
BUT sin is only pleasurable for a season–one reason sin progressively grows worse.
“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season”
–Hebrews 11:24-25
So even the seasonal celebrations of greed on Black Friday appeared rather muted in 2018.

What is behind this dampening down of the attention to Christmas?
Is it due to economic worries?
Or something else?
Two questions for the reader:
1- Has the reader noticed this lessening of all things Christmas in 2018?
2- IF the reader has noticed this fading away, what does the reader suppose is the reason behind it?
Two questions to ponder as we quietly slip under two weeks remaining until Christmas Day 2018.
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
