“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
–Romans 12:2
[From a recent discussion which centered on the transformed life of the believer in Jesus Christ.]
As many of the aspects of the transformed life have no counterparts in the world, describing the transformed life can be difficult at best.
One can describe the changes in one’s life; the new outlook which has taken place and/or the re-evaluation of priorities as to what is now important: BUT, one will always fall short when trying to describe the transformed life to a non-believer.
How does one accurately describe the great difference between joy and delight?
How does one tell others of the great changes in a way which is both accurate and readily believable?
How does one talk of the change in life’s priorities when the values one has discovered are worthless and temporary are greatly desired in the life of the person one is addressing?
When one was a heathen, one’s life was different to be sure.
There was a marking of time, even when time was valued and much which is considered important in this world was accomplished.
In the life of a believer, time is of the essence: there is an immediacy that duties MUST be done and done quickly.
In short, there is a deadline.
Though one searched for a higher purpose as a heathen, these purposes came and went–even the ones which seemed so important when first stumbled upon. One had a feeling that there would always be the “next big thing” to discover and promote.
As a believer, one’s higher duty often revolves around service, obedience and duty: values which were largely abstract concepts in one’s earlier life.
As a heathen, one values, numbers and pursues the things of the world. Indeed, the things of the world are important because they are the only things with which the non-believer is familiar.
A believer eventually puts away the things of the world, having been convinced of their trivial and unimportant nature.
The believer who transformed later in life may think “I wish this had happened years ago!”
But then, one realizes that one’s life would have been completely different.
And the life one has already lived?
That would not have existed.
If one had transformed earlier, one would have lived a completely different life, not the life one remembers.
The transformed life is exactly that: a life which can only be experienced firsthand.
Which is why most attempts to describe it to the outsider are condemned to be only pale, weak imitations of a most vibrant, joyful new existence.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
–2CORINTHIANS 5:17
“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.”
–Revelation 21:5
DOES the reader wish to experience the transformed life?
Why or why not?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
