An email was received recently which contained some interesting information.
The information the recipient found interesting was NOT the information the person sending the email had noticed.
No, the email was sent for an entirely different reason.
The email was no plea for Santa–though the sender had often defended Santa in the past.
Give him a break!
The email had to do with various names those who robbed travelers were called. During that email, the following was contained.
Saint Nicholas, however, the English “Old Nick,” is in all countries the patron of schoolboys, thieves, or, as Shakspere calls them, “Saint Nicholas’s clerks.”
— Richard Ford, Gatherings from Spain, 1846
A little more searching on the subject uncovered the following:
I had long wondered why Satan and his anagram namesake Santa were both known as ‘Old Nick.’
Yes, Santa Claus was known as “Old Nick.” This had NOT been known to the reader of the email.
“Old Nick” is a well-known name for Satan. Once upon a time, “Old Nick” was a VERY popular name for Satan.
All this HAD been known to the reader of the email.
It all makes sense of course.
1- Santa is an elf–and elves are demons.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;

2- St. Nicholas–supposedly the person Santa Claus is patterned after–is the patron of thieves and pawnbrokers. In addition, Santa secretly spies on boys and girls and watches them when they are sleeping.
3- And lastly, one cannot spell “Santa” without S-A-T-A-N.
DOES the reader believe that Santa Claus is somehow tied to Christianity?
WHEN the season supposedly set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ is discussed, which does the reader first think of: Jesus Christ or Santa Claus?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
