Does God Hear the Sinner?

pray

Once upon a time, while a member of a church, it was noticed certain Bible verses were VERY popular.

In fact, said verses were often used to quash all discussion on  particular topics.

Of the more popular in this particular church was John 9:31. Or rather, the first part of John 9:31.

“Now we know that God heareth not sinners”

“God does not hear the prayers of the sinner.”

This led to the question, “Then how does the sinner ever get saved?”

But this only prompted the same, though more forceful, response.

“God DOES NOT hear the prayers of the sinner! That’s in the Bible!”

As this did nothing to answer the question, it then became stuck in one’s mind LONG after leaving said church.

Again, the question nags, “Then how does the sinner ever get saved?”

So, it was a delight to have come across the answer to that question while studying God’s Word recently.

First, was confirmation of John 9:31.

“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me”
–Psalm 66:18

Once more, how do sinners receive salvation if the LORD does not hear the prayers of the wicked–which He does not.

“The LORD is nigh [near] unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.”
–Psalm 145:18

So, the LORD is near “ALL them that call upon Him“–as long as those who call upon the LORD TRULY call upon Him.

Jeremiah 29:13 also sheds some light on this matter.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

FINALLY, the complete answer was in John 9:31 itself.

One gets the complete picture of God hearing sinners–including those seeking salvation–IF one studies the ENTIRE verse of John 9:31.

“Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.”

IF the unsaved sinner worships God and does the will of God, God will hear him.

It all seems so simple now.

DOES the reader wish to be heard by God?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
