The Deception that Tomorrow Will Be Much Like Today and Yesterday

tomorrow

“Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.”
–James 4:13-15

The great majority of men–much as they may protest otherwise–are slaves to their routine.

ROUTINE: Man and His Routine

The routine a man sets up is based on tomorrow being much the same as today and yesterday. HOWEVER, this is not usually true.

There is not a lot of routine in the war-torn sectors of the earth.

NORMALITY BIAS DECEPTION: Worshiping the Routine of Daily Life

But tomorrow is NOT like today or yesterday–at least for the long haul.  One may enjoy a routine for weeks, months, years before something interrupts that sameness.  Usually, the changes in tomorrow are so small, only a small adjustment in one’s routine is needed.

BUT history is full of times in which the routine of man and man’s nations changes suddenly, quickly and drastically.

War.

Acts of God (natural disasters).

Financial chaos.

AND the many interruptions in each man’s daily routine are too many to count: divorce, criminal acts against one’s property, financial upheaval caused by the loss of a job.

God’s Word declares that MANY great and drastic changes will occur in the end times.  This is mostly to get man’s attention and to alert man that time is short.

In other words: man had better change his ways.

It is not too much to say that during these great changes, there will be few, if any, on earth who do not have their routines interrupted.  BUT man has a tremendous capacity to ignore God’s warnings.  Even as events which were predicted thousands of years ago take place, most men will be more interested in repairing their routines and settling back into their comfort zone.

Why is this important?

The reader may think that this is important because if he is alert, he might physically prepare for what is to come.

But there is no amount of physical preparation which can turn what God has declared for centuries into a lie.

Then why is it important to know the signs of the times if not for getting ready for those times physically?

Because the reader needs to prepare spiritually for a time (the last days) which is all about spiritual preparation.

History is replete with times in which the normal changed suddenly to the abnormal.

Tomorrow is NOT always like today and yesterday.

The reader would be well advised to take this under consideration.

IS the reader on the lookout for what he has been told is a sign of the end times?

IS the reader’s routine based on tomorrow being much like today or yesterday?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
