Relics: Props for the Faithless

relic

Recently, an announcement was made concerning a relic which would be on display locally during Holy Week.

Supposedly, the “incorrupt heart” of a saint would not only be on display for the public, but would be available for all those who wished to be “inspired” by such a keepsake from the 1800’s.

NOW, the Bible declares that believers are to walk by faith, rather than that which can be seen or touched or otherwise experienced by the senses.

“(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)”
–2CORINTHIANS 5:7

Furthermore, believers are instructed that FAITH is the evidence of things NOT seen.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
–Hebrews 1:1

Lastly, believers are instructed that that which can be seen is NOT faith (hope).

“For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?”
–Romans 8:24

In conclusion then: relics and similar props are for the faithless.

It is those without faith who are moved by that which can be seen.

Those who have faith have no need of relics or any other props from this world which offers so-called “proof” of what God’s Word declares.

FAITH vs RELICS.

The reader may make his choice.

DOES the reader have a “soft spot” for various relics pronounced by man or man’s traditions?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
