“Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition”
–2THESSALONIANS 2:1-3
Due to the reader living in the end times (the last days before the return of Jesus Christ), the reader is saturated with deception–because the days of this time are a time of deception.
Sometimes, this deception breeds confusion–which is NOT from God.
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
–1CORINTHIANS 14:33
One of the concepts most are deceived and confused about is the signs of the last days.
Naturally, it makes sense for the enemy to spread confusion about how to recognize that time immediately before the climax of human history (the return of Jesus Christ). IF one cannot recognize the times in which one lives, one cannot make the most efficient and effective preparations.
About the signs of the times, there have been a GREAT MANY stories promoted about what happens in that time. These stories challenge what the Word of God has to declare about that time.
It seems that whenever the topic of conversation turns to the last days, one of the most popular questions is “How much time is left?” The answer to this question is for another piece, another day.
Another popular question is “How can I tell when the last days have arrived?”
There are a GREAT MANY stories which claim to answer this question.
HOWEVER, the Bible declares that there are two events which MUST happen before Jesus can return.
Whenever BOTH of these two events take place, the reader can know that the return of Jesus Christ is not far off.
What are those two events?
2THESSALONIANS 2:3 tells us.
1- “…there come a falling away first”
2- “…that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition”
Seems simple enough.
THE FALLING AWAY
The churches, in particular, want readers to believe that the “falling away” is an erosion of those that congregate in the churches (which are part of Satan’s network).
Satan Has Counterfeited the Christian Church
HOWEVER, the Greek word which has been translated as “falling away” is apostasia. This word literally means “rebellion” or “revolt.”
The falling away will actually be a great REVOLT against God, His Word and His Son, Jesus Christ.
When the reader sees this great REVOLT happening, he can know that there is not much time remaining. Presently, the signs of this revolt/rebellion are very widespread.
THE MAN OF SIN
The man of sin is the false Messiah; the false Christ.
When the reader sees this man exalted by the world and the authorities of this world, he can know that the time is very short.
Some readers have written that they are primarily looking for the appearance of the one-world government. This is fine, but there are a great many deceptions surrounding that appearance.
One MIGHT know when it appears.
BUT one MIGHT NOT know, also.
The only sure and certain way to know that time is very short before that return of Jesus Christ are the two signs contained in 2THESSALONIANS 2:3.
The falling away (apostasia/revolt/rebellion against God) AND the revealing of the man of sin.
When the reader sees these two signs, he can know that time is short.
WILL the reader be looking for these two signs as signs of hope or signs of dread?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
