In the world in which we live, modern man and fear are certainly well-acquainted.
That’s a fact.
There are several reasons for this.
1- Though most moderns believe themselves and their families and acquaintances to be “good people,” God’s Word informs us differently.
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
–Romans 3:10-12
“The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
–Psalm 14:2-3
Modern man is no stranger to fear because modern man is wicked, evil and foolish–though in his deceived state, modern man will NOT believe this.
And the wicked know fear.
“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
–Proverbs 28:1

2- Because modern man has little or no fear of God, he is saddled with a fear of man.
A fear of God IS fear, make no mistake (regardless of what many churches insist). BUT, a fear of God also comes with a peace which puts the fear of man into its proper perspective.
“And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”
–Luke 12:4-5
Man has his reasons for spreading fear. Rulers use it to facilitate their control. Military forces use fear to increase their advantage in battle and in control of civilian populations. Governments use fear to enforce their laws and regulations.
“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”
–Proverbs 29:25
And the fear spread by man is widespread.
However, at the foundation of all of this: the believer’s lot is peace; the non-believer’s lot is fear.

3- Modern man does NOT believe God’s Word, but modern man DOES believe those he KNOWS lie to him: the government, the Corporate Media, Big Entertainment, Science, Medicine and the other authorities of man.
Extremely rare is the day that goes by without the Corporate Media publishing stories which stoke fear, which is the Corporate Media’s best-selling product.
- Climate change.
- Nuclear war.
- Killer asteroids hitting the earth.
- Extreme weather everywhere.
- No opportunities for one’s children to advance and live a “good life.”
- Constant conflicts between one man or another; one leader or another; one celebrity or another.
- Financial crashes and other economic uncertainty.
- The food one eats.
- The liquids one drinks.
- The medicines one takes to “heal.“
- Killer robots.
- Half-human hybrids.
- The future in general.
ALL are repeated endlessly in one form or another and ALL promote fear among the populace.
One of the groups most afflicted by all of this is the news junkie. Anxiously scanning the news wires for the latest propaganda, ads and indoctrination he calls “news,” most news junkies are in a constant state of low-level arousal.
That arousal is caused by anxiousness, which is a form of fear.

4- Fear is an affliction; fear is a torment.
And such affliction and torment is the lot of ALL those who oppose God Almighty and His Son, Jesus Christ.
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”
–1JOHN 4:18
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
–2TIMOTHY 1:7
In the world in which we now live, everybody fears something.
The wicked fear man; the righteous fear God.
And God’s Word tells us that few will fear God in the end times.
“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
–Revelation 13:4, 7-8
5- When one puts one’s faith for the future in fallible man and the schemes of man, FEAR will naturally be one’s result. One KNOWS that man is not to be trusted; IF one has not learned this yet, then one will be afflicted by an uneasiness which one cannot explain. The history of man is filled with one incident after another of man proving how undependable he is. No doubt the reader has many events in his own life which also provide evidence. IF one trusts man (or the princes of man), one is foolish. And the foolish are fearful.
“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”
–Psalm 118:8
“Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.”
–Psalm 146:3
Putting one’s faith in man, man’s government or the other schemes of man is a sure formula for creating FEAR in one’s life.
Is it any wonder fear is a constant companion of almost all mankind in the times in which we now live?

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
