The Modern Superhero: Darker Days Ahead for End Times Superheroes

While doing some research recently on a completely different topic, an interesting article (which was cited by ANOTHER piece elsewhere) was stumbled upon.

Understanding Heroism: A Look at Modern Mythology and the (Super) Appeal of Superheroes:  Why Superheroes Matter: Understanding the Mythology of Now contained a number of interesting–which is NOT the same as truthful–quotes as well as the usual narrative points one expects on the subject of end times “superheroes” and “superpowers.”

“Superheroes…augment mythology itself.”

“These are our Gods and Heroes, our stories—and our commentary on our society.”

“And so, in a very true sense, Hero stories are not only inspirational, but aspirational; they allow to see the potential for change, first within ourselves, and in the world.”

As anyone knows who studies superheroes, superpowers and comic books/movies focusing on these topics has noticed: superheroes have gotten darker and meaner.

This is is NOT by accident: the guess is, the culture’s “superheroes” will continue to grow darker and more sinister.  This includes the onscreen movie depictions of these “heroes.” This is one BIG reason the movie studios responsible for such superhero movies increasingly are pushing to receive an  R rating.

As per usual, the studios push for an R rating, the shill network of “fan (studio-funded/sponsored) sites” insist that families are clamoring for an increase in violence, coarse language and sexual topics to show their children AND Satan’s Mouthpiece agitates for R-rated superhero movies because this signifies they are edgier, bolder, more realistic, more true to the source material, FUN! and more indicative of the real art behind each of these celluloid poison bombs.

In the meantime, Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) and Big Entertainment/Propaganda has continued its regular, breathless fascination with all things superheroes.  The arc of this faux fascination has become increasingly concerned with INTEGRATING the concept of superheroes and superpowers into ordinary, everyday life–particularly among children.

IS the interest in R ratings, darker superheroes and meaner comic book themes related to this media push to promote superheroes among children?

In addition, over the past five or six years, the public has been bombarded with media/entertainment pieces insisting that the public is OBSESSED with superheroes.

After poring over the recent onslaught of superhero stories in the media, one has to wonder, “Is the public obsessed OR is the number of regular superhero propaganda pieces evidence that the media spits out these pieces/vidoes and then cites the great number of propaganda pieces as “PROOF” the public is obsessed?”

Returning to that recently-stumbled-upon comic book commentary, one of its quotes did offer a bit of truth, by summing up the recent slide of comic book superheroes into a darker milieu.

“These are our Gods and Heroes, our stories—and our commentary on our society.”

This is proving true: superheroes–a former reminder of a long-ago lost childhood–ARE a commentary on our broken, end times society.

Once more: the superhero narratives will continue to grow darker.

Meanwhile, the commentary about such subjects will continue to grow sharper and more well-defined, all the while pushing for more violent, more sexually deviant and more graphic depictions of the stories the superheroes tell.

DOES the reader follow the superheroes–either in comics or movies?

HAS the reader noticed the darker tone of recent superhero stories?

IS the reader eagerly awaiting the next installment in his favorite superhero universe?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
