Unanswered Prayers?

unanswered prayers

In the halls of the buildings known as the churches, a not inconsiderable amount of time is given over to the topic of “unanswered prayers.”

Much hand-wringing and concern also seem to accompany to such discussions.

“When is my prayer going to be answered?”

“I don’t know why God doesn’t answer my prayer.  I must be patient.”

“God hasn’t answered my prayer but I know someday He will.”

Yes, unanswered prayers is a topic for conversation among those who frequent the churches.

Which prompts a few observations about “unanswered prayers.”

1- Perhaps the prayer IS answered–just differently than the manner in which the petitioner had anticipated.

2- IF the prayer is TRULY unanswered, then it means that the one doing the praying has NOT experienced the new birth. The one doing the praying is NOT one of God’s own; does NOT have God’s Holy Spirit indwelling.

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”
–1JOHN 5:14-15

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
–Romans 8:26-27

NEITHER observation–but particularly the second one–will spark much enthusiasm in the halls of the buildings known as the churches.

And so, the hand-wringing and concern will likely continue–at least for a little while longer.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
