STUDY the Bible

study Bible

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
–2TIMOTHY 2:15

A great many will tell the ignorant that one must READ the Word of God.

But the Bible itself does not say to read it (Other than Revelation 1:3 which mentions a blessing for READING the words of that prophecy.  However, the sense is that it is referring to READ ALOUD–as the rest of the verse seems to make clear.).

“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.”
-–Revelation 1:3

The Bible DOES say to STUDY the Word of God.

This makes perfect sense–particularly in the times in which we live–as corrupt translations, as well as false teachers will snare those who are not thoroughly familiar with the text and meaning of God’s Word.

Which means that study is necessary to avoid being deceived.

The responsibility for knowing God’s Word falls upon the one who is seeking wisdom and knowledge. This is particularly true in the times in which we live, as many “outsource” their understanding of Scripture to false teachers, who then tell them, NOT WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS, but what the false teacher insists is what the Bible says.

PROTECT YOURSELF.

Study, rather than merely read, the Word of God.

DOES the reader study the Bible?

OR does this require “too much time” out of the busy world in which we live?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
