The True Nature of the Churches, Part 2

the churches

A recent discussion was held which covered a range of topics, including the number of false churches which have hit the bricks in search of possible converts.

PART ONE: The Nature of the Churches

There was also a number of other topics discussed, including the deception of the Sunday social clubs known as “the churches,” as well as various ways to tell how these institutions are NOT of God.

Satan Has Counterfeited the Christian Church

Why are the churches so popular?

Because “going to church” assures so many that they are a “good person.”  Membership in a church is perhaps the number one point fallible man uses to convince others that he is “good.”

“They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
–Romans 3:12

Therefore, here are seven ways the reader to tell that the churches are NOT of God.

1- The churches do not preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Most churches TALK a great deal about the gospel.

NONE preach the gospel–which is one of the most basic of all the instructions Jesus Christ left for his followers to do.

“And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”
–Luke 24:46-47

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
–Mark 16:15

In fact, those who are in the churches will find it very hard to preach that which they do not know.

And how can they preach a gospel which is not preached to them?

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

2- The churches focus on the world.

A great many of the churches expressly declare they are using their resources to “make this world a better place.”

What does the Bible have to say about this focus on making the world a better place?

“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. “
–Isaiah 65:17

“Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
–2PETER 3:12-13

3- The churches concentrate on satisfying the human appetite for the things of the world.

Some will recognize this by their church emphasizing tithing and the amount of money given to the church OR leaving all that one has in one’s will.

Others recognize the worldliness of the churches by the emphasis on blessings which are based on the amount of worldly goods one has OR the amount of money one makes at one’s place of employment.

BUT the Number One method of recognizing the churches’ preoccupation with the things of this world should be their focus on EATING. “Fellowship” is the word used for “a meal one has at the church” OR “eating out at a restaurant with other members of one’s church.”

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
–1JOHN 2:15-16

4- Those assembled in the buildings known as “the churches,” beg the Holy Spirit of God to make Himself known to those assembled.

God’s Word tells us that the Holy Spirit is present in all believers at all times.

So why do many congregations pray and sing for the Holy Spirit to manifest itself?

And why–when a spirit does appear–does this spirit perform parlor tricks?

And why–when these various tricks are performed–does the congregation then believe this was the work of the Holy Spirit of God?

Again, why do the congregations of many churches pray for something they supposedly already possess (the Holy Spirit or a “move of the Spirit“)?

And why–after various stunts and tricks are performed which supposedly “prove” the presence of the Holy Spirit–do few ask “Is this a glorification of God Almighty?”

And why–at this time of hopping and wild dancing and jumping around–do few refer to John 15:26?

“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me”
–John 15:26

5- Many realize something is wrong in the building they utilize on Sundays.  But few do anything about it.

“I can’t find a good church” is perhaps the #1 complaint heard among the church folk.

And yet, after years of such complaints, one still hears them just as frequently as before.

The wolves in the pulpits usually answer such stirrings with the tried-and-true “There are no perfect churches.”

However, how many are searching NOT for perfection but for merely the basics of Christianity.

6- In direct contradiction to the promises in God’s Word, the church folk are completely powerless.

Some churches spend an inordinate amount of time explaining WHY the church folk do not have the power promised to them by the Word of God.

Other churches present a host of parlor tricks and deceptions, insisting that such gimmicks are the power of God.

MORE

7- One does not receive peace from attending the churches.

One feel glad from recognizing familiar faces.

One might feel a contentment from repeating well-known phrases.

One might even know the satisfaction from being part of a larger group of like-minded individuals.

BUT, one will not know the peace of God until one has the Holy Spirit dwelling within.

Which is one reason there is so much anxiousness among the church folk.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
–John 14:27

The preceding is only a few of the many ways one can discern the true nature of the churches.

IF one is so inclined to do so.

HAS the reader noticed that his church is not performing as detailed in God’s Word?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Forfeiting the Many Benefits Promised to Those Who Fear the LORD

fear

“By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
–Proverbs 16:6

The end times are upon us and God’s Word tells us that the end times are rife with deception.

Because of this overwhelming deception, there is no fear of the LORD among men. Because there is no fear of the LORD among men, men forfeit the great promises which have been made to all those who fear the LORD.  Because men have forfeited those great promises made by God, men do not reap the many benefits which accrue to those who fear the LORD.

What are some of these many benefits?

1- Those who fear the LORD are promised wisdom.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
–Proverbs 9:10

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”
–Psalm 111:10

“And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.”
–Job 28:28

2- Those who fear the LORD are promised knowledge.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
–Proverbs 1:7

“Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.”
–Proverbs 2:5

3- Those who fear the LORD are promised understanding.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”
–Psalm 111:10

“The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.”
–Psalm 25:14

4- Those who fear the LORD are promised the protection of God.

“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”
–Psalm 34:7

“The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.”
–Psalm 145:18-19

“Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.”
–Psalm 33:18-19

5- Those who fear the LORD can be assured that God will protect their loved ones.

“In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.”
Proverbs 14:26

6- Those who fear the LORD are promised longer life.

“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.”
–Proverbs 14:27

“The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.”
–Proverbs 10:27

7- Those who fear the LORD will live lives of contentment; their needs fulfilled.

“Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.”
–Psalm 128:1-4

“Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!”
–Psalm 31:19

“The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.”
–Proverbs 19:23

“O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for [there is] no want to them that fear him.”
–Psalm 34:9

8- Those who fear the LORD are promised the mercy of God.

“And his mercy [is] on them that fear him from generation to generation.”
–Luke 1:50

“For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.”
–Psalm 103:11

9- Those who fear the LORD are blessed.

“Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.”
–Psalm 128:1

“Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.”
–Psalm 112:1

“He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.”
–Psalm 115:13

10- Riches, honor and life are promised to those who fear the LORD.

“By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.”
–Proverbs 22:4

Does the reader receive these many benefits of the LORD?  If not, then perhaps the reader needs to reevaluate whether he has a genuine fear of the LORD.

Making sure that one has a genuine fear of the LORD is one of the most important preparations one can make for what is soon to come upon the earth.

However, as it now stands, because of the great deception in the end times, most of mankind forfeits these many promises.

No, it does not make good sense: but those who are deceived often perform works which lead them to destruction, not life.

Believers should pray for deceived man.

Indeed, believers should pray for ALL men.

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men”
–1TIMOTHY 2:1

How tragic that so many do not believe the Word of God as they approach their greatest time of need.

In the times in which we live, believers most certainly do need to pray for all men.

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
–Ecclesiastes 12:13

DOES the reader believe the Word of God EVEN when it is contrary to the many authorities raised up by man?

DOES the reader then fear the LORD?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

The Encouragement of Unrealistic Expectations

expectations: I am your dream

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”
–James 4:4

The human mind sometimes works in a oddly circuitous manner.

And so it was that recently three encounters from the past ten years–all highlighting one theme–were brought back to remembrance.

The theme?

One that contains several bullet points.

The first: that America is a land where products are not merely promoted to perform as products are supposed to perform, America is a land where products are very often promoted with unrealistic expectations.

For instance, a CAR is not merely a car: a car is often sold as a lifestyle; a method of making a statement about who one is and what one finds important; about the type of person one really is.   A car is not merely a mode of transportation: a car is a way of attracting the attention of ultra-good-looking members of the opposite sex; of showing that person that the owner of the car cares about the finer things in life.

THIS is how something as ordinary as a CAR is often promoted and marketed.

The CAR comes with unrealistic expectations attached.

But the second point is: America is not only a country where products come with unrealistic expectations attached, it is a country where many EMBRACE and BELIEVE those marketing gimmicks.

“Advertising is legalized lying.”
H.G. Wells

And so, the first encounter came to mind.

A neighbor wanted a new car, so he decided to buy a Chevolet Corvette Stingray.  He had owned a Corvette years ago and he imagined that much that was good about his younger days was due to his driving that Corvette.

Settling upon a used model–in very good shape–from a local dealer, the car cost a considerable amount of money.  When asked why he would spend so much money on this car–particularly when he stayed at home most of the time–he provided the following answer.

“The chicks will dig it.  I’ll park it in my yard and the girls will come running!”

The neighbor not only EMBRACED and BELIEVED the marketing innuendo (Girls love to hang out with guys who drive Corvettes.), he invested tens of thousands of dollars in his belief.

The second encounter involved an acquaintance who had a seemingly comfortable life.  One day, he announced that he was trading his two-year-old pickup truck and a sizable amount of cash for a new motorcycle.

Why? You’re always using your pickup.  How are you going to haul things around?” (This acquaintance was usually working around his house.)

“I’m finally going to be free; to do what I want when I want!  If I want to take off and go to Atlanta or New Orleans, I’m going to go!  Nothing will hold me back now!”

The acquaintance basically ignored any contrary points of view, such as when it was pointed out that he could go wherever he wanted whenever he wanted at the present time.   He didn’t need a motorcycle to do that.

But the acquaintance bought into the notion (Wonder where that idea came from?) that this motorcycle would make him a “free” man.

He just kept repeating, “This is what I want!  I’ll be free!”

The third encounter was from about nine-ten years ago.

While on a trip to Florida, it was noticed that a VERY tanned older woman was  always in front of the condos in which we were staying.  Whenever one left, she would be in the front parking lot in a swimsuit or shorts rubbing a black sports car with a rag. When one returned to the parking lot–even hours later–the woman would be there, feverishly polishing the black sports car with that rag.  It was noticed that no matter the time of day or evening, the woman would be polishing that black sports car.

So, others who had lived in the condos for a longer time were consulted.

“Who is that woman in the front parking lot and why is she always rubbing that black sports car with that rag?”

“Oh, that’s the judge.”

“What do you mean “Oh, that’s the judge.‘  Why is she constantly rubbing that car with that rag?”

“Oh, she just wants that car to shine. She’s retired and has the time to really make that car shine!”

“But she’s out there CONSTANTLY polishing the car.”

“It’s what she does.  It’s what she has always done, far as I know.”

“But I’ve never seen her drive the car–only polish it.”

“No, she doesn’t drive it much anymore.  But she used to. But she’s polished that car, day after day.  I’ve  been here almost eight years and she’s done it as long as I’ve been here.”

And so that older woman was compelled–for whatever reasons–to polish her car constantly.

One had to wonder if perhaps unrealistic expectations caused her to constantly polish the already-gleaming automobile.

The polishing couldn’t have brought her any joy.

In fact, the constant rubbing on the car seemed to one onlooker to be almost a form of torment.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
–1JOHN 2:15-16

It is bad enough when moderns become attached to the things of the world.

But, it turns into a small tragedy when they become caught up in–and then overwhelmed–by unrealistic expectations of the possible benefits they might receive from those things.

When the things of the world become more than merely just things.

DOES the reader have a special car, place to live or furnishings?

DOES the reader believe these “special things” of the world bring him joy?

WHY does the reader believe this?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
