Everyday Demons: Demons in Everyday Life

everyday life

During the past several months, the following was overheard during a discussion.

“I never was a heavy drinker.  I never did drink much liquor or whiskey.  Except for a six-month period.  I was involved in some things I shouldn’t have been involved with and I started drinking to kill the bad feelings that came over me.”

“Did it help?”

“I found out you can’t drink that much. So no.”

“What happened?”

“After a short time, I stopped doing what I was doing and the bad feelings immediately stopped.”

The discussion then turned to those “bad feelings” and what might have caused them, as well as what they might have been.

It was during this time that one thought of the many celebrities, stars and other of the rich and celebrated who drank themselves to death–many before the age of 30–despite having what appears to be all of the advantages the world can offer.  Might they also be trying to “drink away” bad feelings?

Then, the conversation turned to other–though related–topics.

Such as ILLNESS and what might be the cause of sickness and disease.

Modern medicine claims that disease is caused by “germs” and “microbes.”  But Germ Theory is only about 140 years old.  What did the medical authorities claim caused disease before the Germ Theory story was agreed upon?

Bad air” or the Miasma Theory.

The wise doctors and medical authorities before 1880 would look at their patients and tell them the story of how bad air caused their disease.

And then they prescribed fixes which were about as effective as the ones used 140 years later in our present day.

There was mention of the biblical proscription against the speaking the names of pagan gods (devils).

“And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.”
–Exodus 23:13

This was so important a command, it is repeated several times.

“And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.”
–Deuteronomy 12:3

“Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left; That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them”
–Joshua 23:6-7

“And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.”
–Zechariah 13:2

It was also mentioned how DIFFICULT it is for the modern person to obey this command due to the extreme number of modern companies and everyday products–even many of the days of the week and some months– named after pagan gods, devils and demons.

Finally, the discussion landed on why it is that so many everyday products and services in the modern world are named after pagan gods, devils and demons.

And that this circumstance grows worse, not better.  The reader cannot begin to know the number of everyday words which are the same as the name of obscure devils, demons and pagan gods.

SO NOW, that is the question posed to the reader:

Why does the reader suppose that so many everyday products, services and other descriptions used everyday in the modern world are named after pagan gods, devils and demons?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
