Voices

A number of stories which had to do with hearing voices in one’s head were recently featured in various newscasts.

1- PENTAGON: NEW LASER TECH CAN MAKE PEOPLE HEAR VOICE COMMANDS

The Pentagon is working on a weapon that uses lasers and plasma to transmit sound files, even human speech, directly to individual people at great distances.

That’s according to a story by the Military Times newspaper… The story is short on technical details — but, at the same time, a troubling glimpse of the military’s desire to control people using next-gen tech.

How many commit crimes while under the influence of the “voices” which they hear?

Can the reader think of any other drawbacks to hearing “voices” in one’s head?

2- As She Fought Mental Illness, She Found Love Along The Way

When she was 18, she jumped in a lake because a voice in her head told her to.

Often, a person hearing “voices” will engage in self-destructive behavior.

3-From a Potomac mansion to jail | Struggling mom accused of daughter’s attempted murder

Investigators highlighted her financial and apparent mental health struggles in the court documents they used to charge Isaac with a shocking crime.

In charging documents, police said Isaac told them she was having financial problems and had been “out of a job” and “hearing voices in her head for some time and has been receiving mental health treatment.”

Many times, someone who hears “voices” will report the “voices” trying to urge them to hurt others.

4-Family of Hot Springs shooting suspect says lack of mental health care led to shooting

“He thinks he sees spirits,” she mentioned. “He talked to them. He hears voices in his head. I think, that day, when he got the gun, I think his voices might have told him to do it. I don’t know. I just assume it, because he was talking to himself like there was a person right there talking to him. He didn’t talk loud, he mumbled so people wouldn’t notice that he was talking.”

Those who hear voices are commonly described as being “mentally ill” or “mentally unstable.” This makes others conclude that whatever they have to say–particularly about hearing “voices“–is considered little more than the ravings of a lunatic.

5- On stand, brother recalls Nicole Nachtman’s murder confession

Carey says his sister broke down and then told him about the screaming voices in her head.

“Ever since she got back from London, her school trip, she’s had uncontrollable screaming in her head. Like a high-pitch screaming. And it was affecting her sleep and she was having nightmares,” Carey said.

Has the reader ever stopped and wondered, “Why would so many moderns hear VOICES in their head?”

In addition, has the reader ever questioned, “Has there ever been a historic record of men hearing VOICES in their head?”

One way to know the truth is to ascertain what the apostate churches are currently saying on a matter and then head in the opposite direction.

Today’s churches–and those who write for those churches–labor to ensure that their readers know that hearing voices is NOT a case of the demonic.

DOES the reader know someone who is troubled by hearing “voices” in their head?

DOES the reader attempt to ascertain what these voices might be?

OR does the reader just shrug his shoulders and say, “There’s nothing I can do about it“?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

DOES the reader believe he is saved?
