Love and Jealousy

jealousy

Contrary to modern opinion, JEALOUSY and LOVE have nothing to do with one another.

Though one would not know it from listening to popular movies, entertainment and/or music on the topics.

That JEALOUSY AND LOVE are not in the same ballpark is also readily apparent to any who look at the various words used to define JEALOUSY and JEALOUS.

Suspicion, anxious, anxiety, vigilant, envious, fearful.

vigilant in guarding a possession

And so, JEALOUSY has more in common with words such as “covet” and “possession.”  Because JEALOUSY–as it is commonly referred to in the modern world–has more to do with someone else taking away a possession of the jealous one.

That JEALOUSY and LOVE are not related is also apparent from the Bible.

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”
–1JOHN 4:18

God’s Word declares that there is NO fear in love.

And what is JEALOUSY, but a fear of losing a person one feels they rightfully possess?

One popular fable among today’s youth is that JEALOUSY is a sign of LOVE.  Therefore, a number of youths mistakenly labor to make their partners jealous in order to reassure themselves that their partner “loves” them.

JEALOUSY is NOT a sign of LOVE, but of possession–and a partner who stirs up feelings of insecurity and JEALOUSY is a partner with thoughts of manipulation, not LOVE.

Still, the closer we get to the climax of human history (the return of Jesus Christ), the more moderns will continue to confuse JEALOUSY and LOVE.

Mainly because the world continues to push the fable that JEALOUSY and LOVE are somehow fruit of the same tree.

DOES the reader wonder why the “love” they know is far different than the “love” the reader sees/hears so much about in movies, TV, pop music and other popular entertainment?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
