Focusing on This Short, Temporary Life Often Leads to Bad Decisions

wrong way

Has the reader ever known of someone who–although they appear to have a very comfortable and cozy life–is ready to chuck it all away and alter their entire life because they they “want to make a change”?

Regardless of how hard they (and any others who are also part of their life) have worked, the person is going to throw all of this to the side, leaving behind their present life (which many times includes spouses, children, friends, businesses, neighbors and/or professional relationships), all in the name of wanting to do “something completely different”?

This circumstance seems to be a fairly common one in the times in which we live.

At least it if far more common than in previous years.

When discussing the situation with such a person, a number of questions beg to be asked.  Such as, “Why are you doing this?” OR “Why are you doing this NOW?” OR “Is your life really so bad you wish to leave behind so much that you (and others) believe is also good?”

The most common answers to these questions prompt a few thoughts.

1- It is NOT important how nice or comfortable or filled with advantages ANOTHER person believes one’s life is; IF the person involved is convinced their life is a living hell, then what another believes is NOT important.

The REAL question seems to then become: “What has caused someone to become so dissatisfied with their life?”

“Through clever and constant application of propaganda, people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way round, to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise.”
–Adolf Hitler, Propaganda, the Big Lie and Adolf Hitler: 20 Hitler Quotes on Propaganda

2- It is a surprise how many consider any situation below PURE, PERFECT BLISS to be classified as a failure–or at least, a circumstance which needs to improve.

3– One of the most common answers to “Why?” seems to involve the running out of time–or at least, the feeling that one is under the gun, time-wise.

SOMETHING has convinced a great many fairly-happy people that they have an expiration date: that they only have a limited time to achieve the ideal of perfect happiness.

4- It is woefully apparent that many who covet a different result to their lives end up with a situation which is NOT what they imagined it would be.  In other words, a great many are disappointed that, after leaving lives they had spent years constructing to their liking, they wind up in a life which they definitely do not enjoy.

5- For some reason, one of the most frequent beliefs about rooting up one’s life in search of something better is the conviction that “If I mess something up, I can fix it.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a great many who do not possess the tools or mindset to “fix” what has been willingly destroyed.

6- Because so many focus so intently on this short, temporary present life (which is here today and gone tomorrow), a great many bad decisions are made.

After all, what is this short and momentary thing we call life but a shadow, a vapor?

“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
–James 4:14

7- IF more focused on the long term and put this present life into its proper place, then a great many FEWER bad decisions would be made.

This present life is a test; it is only a test to determine where each person will spend the rest of their eternity.

So if one makes important decisions based upon the length of this present life (that trial test period), one has essentially failed the test.

IF all of that was kept in mind, the activities, circumstances and other parts of the vanity we call life would present less problems and the path ahead would be so much more clear.

SO, does the reader known anyone who is going through this?

OR, who has gone through this in the past?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
