There are no sweet lies: only lies which provides a false comfort.
Surely the reader has been present when someone–in the guise of comforting another–has lied to them.
“Everything will turn out alright. Just wait and see!”
“It was all her/his fault! You’re better off without him/her!”
“Don’t cry, you’ll find a better one than the one you used to have!”
In the times in which we live, LIES appear to be a sort of false comfort food for stressful circumstance.
When the disastrous circumstance rears its head in life (often due to the person’s bad or foolish behavior), someone is usually there to comfort the stricken with LIES.
SUCH AS claiming the event in question is a “blessing in disguise.”
“I’m told it’s a blessing in disguise, If it is, it’s very completely disguised.”

But regardless of the stories the world tells, is it appropriate to EVER lie to someone?

NO.
One of the most popular stories the world tells is that “fibs” and “little white lies” are not really lies.
ALL lies are lies.
Lies told supposedly to comfort others merely delay (and in many cases, worsen, the coming day of reckoning) bad times.
In the times in which we live, lies abound.
The reader should not add to that deception–even in the name of supposedly offering a person comfort.

LIES of comfort are still LIES.
“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

DOES the reader ever lie to someone to “make them feel better“?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
