The Many Incongruities of Modern Life

Modern life: its stories are many and those who live during these times hear a great many tales told to explain why things are the way things are.

And many of those stories contradict each other; i.e., they are incongruous.

When these stories clash, the number one tactic by the storytellers for dealing with these conflicting details is to ignore conflicts.

For instance, one of the stories told to American youngsters for generations was the one about America’s “free market system.” Everything economic, financial and otherwise having to do with money was determined by America’s “free market.”

How, then, to explain the American system of agricultural monopolies and set-asides for favored families of the rich and celebrated?  Citrus fruits, peanuts, sugar–and many more agricultural products–are only allowed to be grown by specific families.  This ensures those who have obtained such agricultural monopolies will become very wealthy.  It also ensures that the prices of these controlled products will be much higher than would otherwise occur. The system is very heavily monitored to ensure that–not only are no “approved” agricultural products grown by non-approved folks, but that any which are found will be DESTROYED so that even the poor cannot use them.

Another story drummed into the heads of schoolchildren is the one about the economic “law” of supply and demand.

Following the law of demand, the demand curve is almost always represented as downward-sloping, meaning that as price decreases, consumers will buy more of the good.

Consequently, as demand for a product increases, the supply of that product supposedly increases and the price, according to the “law” of supply and demand, goes down.

HOWEVER, every summer, consumers are treated to ANOTHER STORY.

This story tells them that the price of gasoline is going up due to the “increased demand” of summer driving, etc.

American children are treated to the twin tales of American Free Enterprise and Capitalism, where the consumer reigns and prices are settled between the merchant and his customers.

When those children are grown, they find out something altogether different: on a number of items–particularly items which are either staples (milk, bread) or sin-related (tobacco, alcohol and tobacco products), various states set “minimum pricing” for those products.

No longer is a price determined between a merchant and his customers.  NOW, the state steps in and ORDERS the merchant that he can NOT sell his products below the minimum price set by the state.  This is an incongruous situation where everyone loses but the fat cat merchants who charge their customers more.

Those higher prices become the “minimum,” as lower-priced competition is declared illegal–while the fat cats get to post big signs advertising that their merchandise is at the “state minimum” price.

Meanwhile, any child who learned the stories of America’s capitalistic system is left scratching his head.

Still another incongruity of modern life (and this last example is peculiar to America) is the story that Americans are told about “having the best health care system in the world“: the best medical schools producing the best doctors, who prescribe the best drugs, manufactured by the largest drug companies (who are almost all headquartered in the USA), the best research, the latest diagnostic techniques and so on.

YET, America is a sickly country.

A VERY sickly country.

One of the primary jobs of Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) is to attempt to explain away the many incongruities of modern life.

Failing that, the media’s job then becomes that of an informational gatekeeper: don’t let the story spread or get “traction.”

FINALLY, the media becomes the chief promoter of NEW stories (when they become necessary to replace older stories which are no longer being believed).

The reader will find that, in modern life, the stories change.

The incongruities do not.

This is because the stories are false.

And false stories are lies which ALWAYS have inconsistencies.

And such inconsistencies are noticed.

Even if the most natural reaction to a lie is to smile and ignore it.

HAS the reader noticed any incongruities in the tales he is told about HOW life works or HOW the things of this life work?

“Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.”
Winston Churchill

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
