The Man of Sin: Standing Room Only?

arena - stadium

Conversations are at times like little streams in the woods: they wander here and there, double back, run past interesting places and only the prescient know where one will end up.

And so it was with a discussion which took place during the past six months or so.

More than one interesting point was touched upon and it is several of those points which will be focus of THIS discussion.

It can’t be recalled how this conversation began.  Two or three would mostly “carry the load”–and then something would stir the other two, then all five would be excitably jabbering back and forth.

Somehow, the topic of the “man of sin” (called “the antichrist” by so many–particularly by those in the churches these days) was taken up.

And so, for the reader’s edification: a few points on this subject which had not previously been read or heard  elsewhere.

1- How will the man of sin (also called the “false prophet” in the Bible and the “false Messiah” by some in the churches) gather together and stir up those who follow him?

“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.”
–Revelation 16:13

“And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.”
–Revelation 19:20

“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
–Revelation 20:10

Discussion settled upon this particular point for quite awhile.

One person had obviously already put some thought in this.  He insisted the man of sin would commandeer stadiums and arenas all over the world to hold rallies for his followers and to stir up those who were “sitting on the fence.”

Thousands would pack these arenas “like sardines.”

“Once that fellow gets moving, it will be standing room only!”

2- This was an interesting point; from that moment, questions were raised about the methods the man of sin would use to communicate with this seething mass of humanity.

A microphone and loudspeakers?

The already existing sound systems already in place?

Smartphones? (Which assumed everyone attending would have a cellphone.

“Phones will be provided for those who don’t have them!  They’ll hand them out when they enter!”

It was about here that a second interesting point was brought up.

3- WHAT IF the man of sin used devilish means to communicate with his followers?

This would not only reach all of them, it would leave a STRONG impression that he is not your average Joe Politician.

WHAT IF the man of sin could be heard in the heads of all of those who are convinced this guy is IT?

This would not only be a totally-new method of communication, it would be VERY impressive.

After all, the man of sin uses signs and lying wonders to impress those who dwell upon the earth.

“And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders”
–2THESSALONIANS 2:8-9

4- And a last interesting point was made (after the second one about the man of sin using demonic tricks to further convince his followers he’s all that and a bag of chips:

WHAT IF the man of sin just spoke to all of his followers at once while they were at home?

Why gather them together in a stadium if he could just talk to each one in their heads?

Why even go to the trouble of commandeering arenas and stadiums?

Of course–as was pointed out–there are EMOTIONAL reasons for gathering a bunch of fanatical, like-minded people in one place and whipping them into a frenzy.

And–if memory serves–the discussion moved on to other subjects.

As earlier stated: sometimes a conversation is like a wandering brook; a meandering stream.

WHAT will the reader do when the man of sin is revealed?

HAS the reader thought about this?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
