Corporate Media: Speaking With One Voice

megaphone

To the casual observer, there are a vast number of competing sources of information, knowledge and opinion on the Internet and in the publishing world.

But appearances can be deceiving.

In this case, appearances ARE deceiving.

Yes, there are publications/news organizations which speak from certain political/economic viewpoints: Democrat, Republican, conservative, liberal, independent, libertarian, hard-core socialism, hard-core marxism and hard-core capitalism.

Then, there is NEWS: local news, national news, world news, sports news, financial news, technical news, science news, environmental news, political news, specialized news, general news and so on.

There are publications/news organizations which promote EVERYTHING about women, women’s issues and women’s health.

There are publications/news organizations which feature EVERYTHING about men and the things men find fascinating.

There are publications/news organizations focused on THINGS: cars, computers, guns, cosmetics, high tech, low tech, every different genre of music and every band which has played that music.

There are publications/news organizations which focus on HEALTH: losing weight, gaining weight, working out, not working out, healthy eating, eating which is both healthy and otherwise, prescription drugs, recreational drugs, generic drugs, smart drugs, and advice from doctors.

There are publications/news organizations which focus on FASHION: cosmetics, body maintenance, clothes, the models who show off clothes, the fashion designers who decide what the Next Big Thing will be and everything the knowledgeable fashionista finds interesting.

There are publications/new organizations which focus on STUDIES: which means that every day, a different contradictory “study” provides ammunition for WHATEVER one’s heart desires.

Don’t like coffee?  There’s a study supporting your view!

LOVE coffee?  Obsessed with coffee? There’s a study telling coffee-lovers EXACTLY what they want to hear.

Enjoy walking and other forms of mild exercise?  There are HUNDREDS of studies which say you are on your way to a happy, contented and HEALTHY future life.

Can’t stand walking?  Would rather “chill“? There are studies backing you up!  They claim that the mental happiness you get from being glued to your couch outweighs any possible benefit you might obtain from walking.

The list goes on and on and on.

It certainly APPEARS to be a vibrant cacophony of different shouters all shouting at once to get the public’s attention.

What could be a greater symbol of freedom of expression than the MANY thoughts cataloged each day by the thousands of publications/news organizations?

HOWEVER–as most of a certain age have discovered–things are not always as they appear.

It appears that there are a great variety of viewpoints represented in our media.  And, on trivial, non-important issues, this might be correct.

On trivial matters–say politics–the various publications call the other side names; manufacture lists of enemies and bring scorn upon their heads. Such publications/new organizations develop a sort of “mental shorthand” they teach their followers.  Many times, this “shorthand” substitutes for thoughtful reflection. This is important because such shorthand, once learned, is a way of circumventing any independent, non-approved thoughts on a topic.

“I don’t HAVE to think on that!  I already KNOW what they’re trying to pull!”

Talk shows and talk radio are the prime employers of this tactic.

BUT ON THE IMPORTANT POINTS; on the points which get repeated over and over and over again, there is a surprisingly homogenized message.

One of the signs of this are the great number of liberals who–on the important issues–disagree vehemently with those who supposedly speak for liberals.  On the other side of the political aisle, a great number who consider themselves conservatives disagree with those media voices who claim to speak for conservatives.

Another sign is the number of speakers–famous for taking a stand on one side–who “switch sides” and become a darling of the other side they PREVIOUSLY so loudly opposed. This is because the speakers are, in reality, hired guns who will shill for whatever side they are told to shill for.

IN FACT, when it comes to important propaganda items, the reader can see the supposedly-disparate media speak as if with one voice.

There are occasions when a publication (let’s says which represents gun owners) will appear to dig in its heels and not budge from its core readership’s views.  HOWEVER, this very stubborn opposition often proves useful: when such a stubborn defender of that viewpoint finally gives in, it is a signal to all who followed that viewpoint that the game is over.

How many times has the reader wondered why there are so FEW official viewpoints when there are so MANY media speakers?

The reader might wonder “WHY?”

The circumstances which surround the publications/news organizations illustrate something Vladimir Lenin once said.

“The best way to control the opposition is to lead it ourselves.”

The end times are a time of great deception and the lie that readers enjoy a wide variety of thought in the media is one of those deceptions.

It will not get any better: it only gets worse.

HAS the reader ever pondered the seemingly monolithic views of the Corporate Media?

OR, does the reader believe he is immersed in a stream of conflicting viewpoints?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

Christmas Preparations

Christmas preparations: shopping

While visiting a local “big box” store on the day before Christmas, several thoughts were entertained.

Perhaps the reader will now be entertained as well?

THOUGHT #1

A great many speak of preparing or “getting ready” for Christmas.

This “preparation” mostly consists of three facets:

–DECORATING (both indoors and outdoors);

–BAKING (for family, for holiday visitors and for any who hunger for a Christmas snack).

Christmas cookies are popular.

In fact, cookies are so popular around Christmastime, services have sprung up which provide cookies (for a price) for those too busy to bake them.

GIFT PROCUREMENT/WRAPPING seems to take the most time of the three.

In fact, when MOST speak of preparations for Christmas, they mean SHOPPING for gifts.  This is also true of being asked, “Are you all ready for Christmas?”

This USUALLY is another way of asking, “Do you have all of your shopping done?  Have you found all of your presents and wrapped them?”

THOUGHT #2

There seem to be two schools of thought on buying gifts.

Those who sit down, write up lists (perhaps as soon as immediately after this current Christmas) and look for the “perfect present” for each person on their list belong to this first group.

This group extends to all of those who take their time buying, wrapping and finding “just the right gift tag,” wrapping paper, ribbon and bows for each present.

These are those who lurk on Amazon.com, spend hours online searching and get as much satisfaction from one of their giftees expressing MUCH APPRECIATION FOR THEIR GIFT than from anything else the holiday has to offer.

The second group of gift buyers?

Their special holiday seems to be the day before Christmas.

This is when they dash about, looking for their presents, convinced that they can do as good a job shopping as the careful shoppers do.

Besides, MOST of the last-minute gift-buyers are in a hurry and feel their life is too busy to spend a lot of time planning for buying others a gift.

“C’mon!  It’s a Christmas present!”

Of course, there are a few of that second group who SWEAR they will devote more time to Christmas NEXT YEAR.  Eventually, experience triumphs and these folks will join a twelve-step program to combat such ideas.

These were the thoughts which intruded on the day before Christmas.

Was the reader entertained?

OR was the reader intruded upon?

Christmas Past

Christmas past

After all, Christmas Day IS the one day the world pretends to honor Jesus Christ.  When even the most committed pagan or antichrist believer may soften his heart, think a good thought about his fellow man and perhaps contemplate the idea–if not the actuality–of Jesus Christ for a moment.
Christmas 2018

HAS the reader made it a habit to reflect on Christmas past?

DOES the reader reflect on Jesus Christ during this quiet time?

OR, does the reader reflect on one of the many aspects of Christmas which is irrevocably entwined in the world?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Christmas Holiday Media Traditions

Christmas tree trimming

The last couple of weeks prior to the new year are a time when honored media traditions take place.

No doubt the reader is familiar with one or two of these hallowed holiday media customs?

One of the most-observed aspects of the week preceding Christmas is the replacement of news and other types of stories with feature stories about Christmas, Christmas trees, Christmas shopping, Christmas tips and time-savers, Christmas odd facts: ANYTHING having to do with Christmas–as long as it is not TIME SENSITIVE.

ANOTHER of the frequently-followed media traditions is that for the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, stories will concentrate on lists:  “The Best of…“, “The Worst of…“, “The Best of the Worst.”  These are the types of pieces which can be written days or weeks in advance, and because they are not time sensitive, they can be published ANY TIME.

And so, newspapers across the fruited plain have PLENTY of pieces to publish during those two weeks preceding the new year.

EVEN IF a good many people are taking a vacation during that time.

As far as THIS publication is concerned: we usually run a few Christmas-based articles around that holiday.  But this year, we’re going to try a short Christmas week focusing on that day–even if NO ONE is going on vacation.

IF the reader enjoys these types of articles, he is in luck!

IF the reader does NOT enjoy these types of articles, then he will have to endure it.

This seems like an appropriate time to wish readers a Merry Christmas for 2019.

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
