Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing Teaching Scripture: The Results are About What One Would Expect

wolf in sheep's clothing

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”
–Matthew 7:15

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.”
–2PETER 2:1-2

“For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.”
–Acts 20:29-30

Many are the warnings in God’s Word about the wolves in the churches.

NOT preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

PREACHING accursed other gospels instead.

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
–Galatians 1:8-9

Distorting and perverting the Word of God.

The bad results of Satan’s workers of iniquity teaching Scripture are legion.

BUT, ONE result which is easy enough to see–even in the end times: when Satan’s workers are in charge of teaching Scripture, the wonderfulness of belonging to God kingdom will NOT be taught.  This includes the many wonderful benefits–such as peace, protection and restfulness–a believer receives.

And why would that be?

After all, the wolves are part of another kingdom and are convinced that their kingdom is a sure winner.  After all, their kingdom has been the norm practically since man has been on earth.

Again, when the wolves are in charge of teaching Scripture, the Scripture will be distorted and perverted.

And the blessedness of belonging to God and His Son, Jesus Christ will NOT be taught.

Maybe that’s one reason the whole world will soon worship the dragon?

“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast…And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
–Revelation 13:4,8

IS the reader convinced of the superiority of the kingdom of heaven?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

Leaving NO WAY OUT For One’s Self

No Way Out

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
–1CORINTHIANS 10:13

There is, therefore, here a recognition of the doctrine that man has natural ability to resist all the temptations to which he is subject; and that consequently, if he yields, he is answerable for it..But God is faithful – This was the only source of security; and this was enough.

When men are tempted, it is because God suffers or permits it. He does not himself tempt men, (Jas 1:13;) he does not infuse evil thoughts into the mind; he does not create an object of temptation to place in our way, but he suffers it to be placed there by others. When we are tempted, therefore, we are to remember that it is because he suffers or permits it; not because he does it. His agency is that of sufferance, not of creation. We are to remember, too, that there is some good reason why it is thus permitted; and that it may be turned in some way to his glory, and to our advancement in virtue.
Albert Barnes’ New Testament Notes/Commentary

God’s Word informs the reader that while man endures temptations, if man will only rely on God, He will offer man a way out.

BUT, to secure the WAY OUT, man must have placed his faith in God Almighty.

Perhaps that is why so many of the lost not only do NOT look for another way out of temptation, they announce to the world that they consider a WAY OUT to be an invalid choice.

Many times, the lost announce that they have spiritually “painted themselves into a corner” and have no other recourse but to sin.

HOW MANY times has the reader heard someone shrug his shoulders, give in to sin and then ask, “What else can I do?”

AS IF there was no alternative to sinning.

AS IF sin was his only choice.

AS IF it was a natural part of the human condition to commit sin against God.

“What else can I do?”

but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able

Here are a few random questions:

HOW MANY moderns know the limits of how far they might be tempted?

HOW MANY moderns have tried to resist temptation on their own to the limits of their ability?

HOW MANY have decided to give in to temptation BEFORE the temptation has even finished singing its siren song?

Yes, all men sin.

The difference between the many who are lost and those few in the kingdom of heaven?

The lost run to their sin and embrace it, many so used to sinning that to sin seems natural to them.

Those who have had their lives transformed still sin, BUT they are ACUTELY aware of their transgression and struggle to avoid it.

Occasionally, they are successful.

Sometimes, they are not.

The few, however, know that God will catch them whenever they fall and help them up.

The few KNOW they will stumble.

However, the few also KNOW they are truly blessed.

“Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”
–Romans 4:6-8

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.”
–Psalm 32:1-2

(Why is this blessedness not generally known?  Chalk it up to having Satan’s workers teaching about Scripture for a few millennia.)

Once again: the few also KNOW they are truly blessed.

But the few are also looking for that WAY OUT of sin.

The lost are not only NOT looking for a way out of sin, they act as if sin is their only course of action.

God provides a way out, but the lost announce that there is NO WAY OUT.

And, when one does not place his faith for the future in God Almighty and His Son, Jesus Christ, there basically is no other way out.

BUT, before one can take the offered WAY OUT, one has to be looking for a WAY OUT.

HAS the reader endured temptation–or has the reader been faced with temptation and quickly given in?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

God Put It Here!

marijuana

Back in the hedonistic free-for-all known as The 1960s (and often into the 1970s and 1980s as well),  no matter how loud or obnoxious a party got, there was ALWAYS at least one person who would bring up the “God Defense” if the conversation turned to smoking marijuana–which was illegal in all 50 states in all circumstances.

“Why do they have to pick on pot?  Smoking a little pot never hurt anyone.  It’s all natural!  And besides, God put it here!  If it was bad, God wouldn’t have put it on earth for us to enjoy!”

Now, never mind that the person who usually brought up this line of reasoning didn’t know Jesus from a carburetor.

Never mind that the same “defense” could be used to justify practically ANYTHING used illegally in this world.

“Yes, officer, I did beat that man to death with this baseball bat.  But you know, God put the wood here for that bat, so it can’t be bad!”

Never mind that most who smoked, drank and carried on with drugs, sex and rock ‘n’ roll NEVER concerned themselves with “all-natural” ingredients any other time.

God put it here!” was one argument that few in the 1960s-1980s were willing to challenge.

And so, regardless of the eye-rolling which went on when the statement made its appearance, the “God Defense” was a regular throughout the smoky haze of that time period.

HAS the reader ever heard of the “God Defense”?

HAS the reader ever used the “God Defense“?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
