“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
–1CORINTHIANS 2:12-14
conceit: n,
1- A novel or fanciful idea; a whim.
2- An ingenious expression or metaphorical idea, especially in extended form or used as a literary or rhetorical device.
[F.A. Hayek] labels as the “fatal conceit” the idea that “man is able to shape the world around him according to his wishes.”
–from The Fatal Conceit: The Errors of Socialism, W.W. Bartley, Editor
Recently the question was asked, “Why make a big deal over the differences between those you say are the few who are true Christians and those who are trying to be good people?”
“Because it IS important. It IS a big deal.”
“Why is it so important? What’s wrong with people who are just trying to be good people?”
“You want the short version or the long version?”
“Better keep it short. I have a feeling that it’s gonna be pretty long.”
“Okay, there’s a couple of reasons why it is so important. FIRST, you say why not just leave all of those people alone who are “trying to be good people”?
The Bible says there are NO good people.
“The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
–Psalm 14:2-3
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
–Romans 3:10-12
“Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
–Psalm 53:3
“So, all of those people who believe they are “good people”?
“They could not be more wrong: they need help and they need it NOW! IF they think they are doing okay NOW, then why would they ever want to know God and His Son, Jesus Christ?”
“The SECOND reason it is so important is that one of the best ways to find God and His great mercy is to SEEK Him. But not only seek Him, but seek Him WITH ALL OF YOUR HEART!”
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
–Matthew 7:7-8
“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
–Jeremiah 29:13
“IF someone thinks they have already found God, they will NOT seek Him. Why search for something you already think you have found? —and they will NOT find Him. And they will pay the price for their ignorance. An ETERNAL price.
“Like so much else: IF one doesn’t know the problem, one can never find the solution.”
“Those are two reasons it is so important to let people know.
“Of course, they almost ALL reject what they’re told.
“After all, they’re “good people.”
IF One Does Not Know the Problem, One Can Never Find a Solution
DOES the reader ever wonder if they have “found God“?
ONE bit of assurance: IF God is ever truly found, the person will have no reason to ever wonder again.
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
