“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.”
“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
“He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me. And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.”
In the spiritual warfare which rages every day between the world, the workers of iniquity, as well as the rest of the kingdom of Satan (who is called “the prince of this world“) vs. God, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the kingdom of heaven, one of the most powerful weapons for a believer is the name of Jesus.
Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He promised specific benefits to believers who used the name of Jesus.
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
(NOTE #1: As pertains to the promises of “They shall take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them”: One is NOT to tempt God [put God to the test].
MORE: Snake Handling: Tempting God)
(NOTE #2: As pertains to the promise of “they shall speak with new tongues“: it is CLEAR from the famed account in Acts 2:5-18 that “speak with new tongues” means to speak a known language with which one has no background or experience. “Speak in new tongues” is not the jabbering gibberish that some churches teach is a new tongue.)
Probably the two best-known of the promises Jesus made that day are casting out devils and laying hands on the sick.
But then, these are the two things for which Jesus Himself was well-known when he walked the earth.
“And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.”
“When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”
So two of the great benefits of the believer are 1- to be able to heal sickness using the name of Jesus; and, 2- cast out devils (demons/evil spirits/unclean spirits) in the name of Jesus.
For believers, the name of Jesus has great power!
Probably one of the reasons the non-believing world hates to even speak the name of Jesus.
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
