God Reveals Himself: Singular Above All Else

heaven

God wants His creation to know Him.

To know ABOUT Him; to know His attributes.

This is one of the primary reasons God has preserved His Word all of these many years: so that God’s creation may know Him through His Word.

And one of God’s main attributes is the singular uniqueness of the Creator of All.

There is ONLY one God and there are no others like Him.

There are many times the Bible informs the reader that–as God is quick to point out–there is ONLY one God and there is NO other gods.

“Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live? Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.”
–Deuteronomy 4:33-35

“Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.”
–2SAMUEL 7:22

“I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.”
–Isaiah 45:5-6

“Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save. Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.”
–Isaiah 45:20-21

When the Israelites pursued other gods (which did not exist) in the form of pagan idols, God leveled the charge that these idolaters thought that THEY WERE A GOD–which was one of the serpent’s original two lies from the garden of Eden.

“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
–Genesis 3:4-5

When bringing these accusations, God said these idolatrous Israelites proclaimed the SAME THINGS WHICH GOD PROCLAIMED ABOUT HIMSELF (‘I am’ and ‘There is none else beside me.’)

“Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children: But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments. For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.”
–Isaiah 47:8-10

Not all of God’s judgment has already fallen on such idolaters. Some judgment has been reserved to the end.

“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.”
–Revelation 18:4-8

At any rate, God’s Word is filled with God’s words which tell the reader He is the only God and that there are NO other gods.

“And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he”
–Mark 12:32

God wants His creation to know Him and know His attributes.

And one of the main attributes of God is that He is singularly unique: there are no others like Him.

And it makes NO difference if the reader believes there is no God OR if the reader believes there are other beings which have similar power.

God is the ONLY God.

And eventually, ALL will know this to be certain.

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
–Philippians 2:10-11

“I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.”
–Isaiah 45:23

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
