SAVED: By Helping the Least of These

hands

“For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.”
–Mark 9:41

In the coming last days, there is one group of people on earth who may be somewhat surprised to find that they are admitted to the kingdom of heaven when many others they may know are rejected.

Who are these puzzled people?

God’s Word reveals them to be ANY and ALL who help the followers of Jesus Christ in the last days, when it will likely mean death to be found to be helping ANYONE who follows Jesus.

As Jesus Christ Himself explained:

“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

“Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
–Matthew 25:31-40

So ANY who assist the followers of Jesus IN ANY WAY in their time of need will be considered by Jesus to be “righteous” (as Matthew 25:37 attests)–and will be admitted to heaven. Jesus will count the courage of those who brave the man of sin and other workers of iniquity to help his believers as “righteousness.”

The bravery shown by this group of people will be a case of backing up one’s convictions by one’s actions; of “putting one’s money where one’s mouth is.”

A FEW NOTES:

1- Those who assist the followers of Jesus Christ apparently don’t think of themselves as “righteous.” No doubt many have done things in their past which are contrary to God’s commands.

In addition, this group–which defies the man of sin in order to help the followers of Jesus–is clearly surprised at their being considered “righteous” for their deeds, as their responses in Matthew 25:37-39 demonstrate.

However, the assistance of the brethren of Jesus is of far greater consequence than their past transgressions.

“Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”
–Romans 4:8

“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
–Romans 4:5

Apparently, helping a follower of Jesus when the chips are down is counted as a sign of belief and faith.

2- There are many who teach that the passages in Matthew 25:31-40 refers to the poor. This might be true: the followers of Jesus in the last days are likely to have no possessions, including nothing to drink; nothing to eat; no clothes; no shelter; no friends to provide such comforts.

The reader can know that Jesus was referring to His followers and NOT to the general poor of mankind by His calling those who are given assistance “my brethren“: my brothers.

Jesus did NOT refer to the general poor of the population as “brethren.”

Jesus DID refer to his disciples as “brethren.” This was noted in the account given in Matthew 28.

“In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

“And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.”
–Matthew 28:1-2,5-10

The account given in John 20 agrees with the one given in Matthew 28.

“Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.”
–John 20:16-18

As Hebrews 2 further explains:

“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren”
–Hebrews 2:9-11

DOES the reader find it surprising that such actions and behaviors in the end times will be counted by God as righteousness?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”

The Closely-Followed Scripts of Random, Chance Events

Reading from the script

First, some headlines from 2020.

  1. ‘A self-centered publicity stunt’: just how serious is Kanye West’s presidential bid?
  2. Media calls Kanye West’s presidential run a breakdown: We don’t buy it
  3. Kanye for president: the dangerous allure of the celebrity politician
  4. Kanye West will run for US president under the Birthday Party

Next, some “jokes” (propaganda)–all from the same night–from the late-night comics in 2016.

A POPULAR THEME FROM THE MEDIA PROPAGANDA MACHINE

“Donald Trump met with Kanye West today — what an amazing thing to see: our next two presidents side by side.”
–Jimmy Kimmel

“Today, Donald Trump met with Kanye West. It’s always cool when two future presidents hang out.”
–Conan

“This morning, Kanye West actually showed up to meet with Donald Trump at Trump Tower. People were shocked — they didn’t expect those two to meet until the first presidential debate in 2020.”
–Jimmy Fallon
End Times Prophecy Headlines: December 15, 2016

What turns routine propaganda about planned future events into a JOKE is the thinking four years ago of

  1. the absurdity of singer Kanye West running for president in 2020; and,
  2. the absurdity that such a neophyte would triumph.

Finally, a little dash of the past (four years ago).

Futility, or the Wreck of the Titan is an 1898 novella written by Morgan Robertson. The story features the ocean liner Titan, which sinks in the North Atlantic after striking an iceberg. The Titan and its sinking have been noted to be very similar to the real-life passenger ship RMS Titanic, which sank fourteen years later. Following the wreck the novel was reissued with some changes, particularly in the ship’s gross tonnage.

Although the novel was written before the RMS Titanic was even conceptualized, there are some uncanny similarities between both the fictional and real-life versions. Like the Titanic, the fictional ship sank in April in the North Atlantic, and there were not enough lifeboats for the passengers. There are also similarities between the size, speed and life-saving equipment.

Just one of those coincidences–a word not found in the Bible–we hear so much about.

“Coincidence is the word we use when we can’t see the levers and pulleys.”
-–Emma Bull
COINCIDENCE or Scripted Event?

Does the reader still believe that world events and what he sees on the “news” are merely random, chance occurrences?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Looking For a Loophole?

loophole

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
–Matthew 7:21

While studying Matthew 7:21-23 and Luke 13:22-28 (all accounts of Jesus warning those who falsely believe, for various reasons, they are headed to heaven), one was reminded of a man from one’s past.

This was a man who played chess.

This man really enjoyed playing in chess tournaments and he really enjoyed it when he won chess games at these tournaments.

FIRST, he bought an official rule book used in chess tournaments.

THEN, he eagerly read the rule book he had purchased in pursuit of an edge (over future opponents).

And so, it was at a large tournament when the man unveiled the loophole he thought he had found in the rules.

The loophole he was certain would make him a champion.

The rules of chess say that at long as a player does not let go of a piece, his move is not complete. This was the loophole the man thought he had found.

During the tournament, the man’s opponent approached the tournament director and told him, “I think you had better come see something my opponent is doing.”

His opponent was the Loophole Man.

The man with the loophole was moving his knight several times across the board, snatching one of the opponent’s pieces and then fleeing back across the board all in one move. Because he kept his hand on his knight, the man argued that his move was not over. The tournament director pointed out to the man that in the first several pages of the rule book was a demonstration of how each piece moved, with the knight making short, L-shaped moves (hops). In the rule book, the piece moves were demonstrated with diagrams.

Loophole Man was insistent.

“But my hand never left the piece! My move is not over!”

The tournament director explained that the move of the knight was diagrammed in the rule book for all to see and was a short two-square move in the shape of an ‘L.” The tournament director also explained that what Loophole Man was doing was not one move of the knight, but seven or eight moves, which constituted an illegal move.

“A player is not allowed to make up how the pieces move.”

“But my hand never left the piece!”

“And if you had made a LEGAL move with the knight, your move would not be over. You’re making an ILLEGAL MOVE and claiming it is LEGAL because you keep your hand on your piece.”

“That’s your opinion!”

“Well, at this tournament, that’s the only opinion on the rules that matters. You get ONE legal move with your knight, not seven or eight moves illegally. Go back to the board, make a legal move or forfeit the game.”

This incident was brought to mind while reading over the following passages in which Jesus is basically warning that there will be MANY who believe they are bound for heaven–but when the time comes, they discover they are wrong.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
–Matthew 7:21-23

“And he [Jesus] went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.”
–Luke 13:22-28

All of those who are crying “LORD, LORD!” thought they had it in the bag: they believed because they did certain things, they were IN.

LORD, LORD: Who is Crying Lord, Lord?

Some relied on prophesying; others, on casting out demons in Jesus’ name.  Still others believed that because they did many wonderful works in Jesus’ name, they were heaven-bound.

Maybe these folks thought they had discovered a loophole?

Maybe these folks thought they had a foolproof way of getting into heaven?

Maybe these folks thought as long as they did the things they brought up to Jesus, they could do anything else they pleased?

And that is the thought which brought all of this together: chess, Loophole Man, people crying, “LORD, LORD!”, disappointment at discovering a sure thing which wasn’t, looking for an edge or a loophole.

DOES the reader concern himself much with where he will spend his eternity?

OR, does the reader believe that he’s “got that covered“?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Twenty Words and Phrases One Can Use When Referring to False Christianity

FAKE

The numbers are many of those who are either 1- false Christians and do NOT know it; or, 2- false Christians and DO know it.

There is a third group of false Christians. These are those who have a feeling that they are not right with God; that they are not REALLY followers of Jesus Christ…

…but they don’t think much about it.

Most of this third group are the church folk who put in their hour every week, donate a little to the cause when the collection plate is passed around AND (from time-to-time) do a little something “extra,” like help out at a fundraising event or show up at one of the regular occasions held at a time other than Sunday morning (a revival meeting, a sermon by a travelling evangelist or some similar affair).

A while back, several workers decided to compile a list of words and phrases which can be used in conjunction with the false ones.

So, what at one time was a half-in-jest project has transformed itself into an article. While many entries are no doubt familiar to the average reader, there are others with which the reader may be unacquainted.

Here is a list of ten words one can use to describe FALSE Christianity.

counterfeit

pretend

fake

ersatz

imaginary

phony

imitation

bogus

artificial

pseudo

And a bonus word: make-believe

TEN WORDS/PHRASES THE BIBLE USES TO DESCRIBE FALSE CHRISTIANS:

tares

wolf in sheep’s clothing

false prophets

false teachers

the concision (that is, those who offer circumcision (the ‘cutting off’) as a sign of holiness)

deceitful workers transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ

ministers of Satan transformed into ministers of righteousness

dogs

evil workers

Those who cry ‘Lord, Lord’

“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.  Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.”
–Jeremiah 31:31-36

DOES the reader use any of the above words or phrases to describe false Christianity?

OR, does the reader believe that all Christianity is false?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
