Scholars?

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
–2TIMOTHY 3:1-2,5

While researching some information about the Book of Exodus, one was struck by the very authoritative pronouncements made in the name of those faceless, worldly authorities known only as “scholars.”

The consensus among scholars is that the story in the Book of Exodus is best understood as a myth, and does not accurately describe historical events.

“Jewish and Christian tradition viewed Moses as the author of Exodus and the entire Torah, but by the end of the 19th century the increasing awareness of discrepancies, inconsistencies, repetitions and other features of the Pentateuch had led scholars to abandon this idea.”

The overwhelming consensus among scholars is that the story in the Book of Exodus is best understood as a myth and cannot be treated as history in any verifiable sense.

“Some scholars, associated with the interpretative school of Biblical minimalism,[20] show more skepticism towards ascribing any historicity to the Exodus,[21] with some arguing that the myth has its origins in the exilic and post-exilic Jewish communities and has little or no roots in a real historical event.”

Which leads one to a fairly obvious conclusion.

That group of faceless, worldly authorities who are referred to as “scholars“–-and who supposedly invest great amounts of study into  God’s Word–-are probably the ONLY group of such “scholars” whose apparent job is to discredit and cast doubt upon the object of their supposed study.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
