A Highly Appropriate End Times Prayer

AN APPROPRIATE PRAYER FOR THE END TIMES–OR ANY TIME

And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.  But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”
–Luke 12:4-5

The end times are a time period FILLED with chaos, confusion and turmoil–much of it manufactured in order to move the inhabitants of the earth to the system ruled by Satan and Satan’s man of sin.

Contained within that chaos and turmoil will be a healthy dose of FEAR: in particular, a FEAR OF MAN.

“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”
–Proverbs 29:25

Believers KNOW to fear God, not man.

And so, a short prayer is offered for the end times.

Or ANY time.

“Lord, never let my fear of man outweigh my fear of God.”

Short and sweet–and easy to remember.

“Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.”
–Isaiah 8:12-13

IS the reader one who usually claims, “I can never remember prayers!”?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

Blaming God For One’s Lack of Spiritual Power

lightning power

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
–2TIMOTHY 3:1-2,5

Not so very long ago, an acquaintance was complaining about the powerless life that person was living–EVEN THOUGH that person was an active member of one of the churches.

What made this complaint memorable was that the person blamed God for his lack of power!

“What’s the deal? We have problems like everyone else. We don’t have the things we need, just like everyone else. We get sick like everyone else. So where’s all this power the church is supposed to have? Maybe I’m from Missouri, but I don’t see it!”

Now, the one doing the complaining seemed to be on a complaining jag and wasn’t in the mood to hear reasoned rebuttals.

HOWEVER, a few counterpoints could have cleared up the complainer’s murmurs, mumbles and grumbles about his lack of spiritual power.

1- There is GREAT confusion among the church folk about the difference between God’s Church of believers and the churches (the buildings which hold Sunday social hours and other get-togethers AS WELL AS the folks who congregate at such buildings).

Believers have experienced the transformation which occurs when a believer is born again spiritually.

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
–John 3:5

The church folk experience a lot of pot luck dinners.

One of the most powerful forces is the prayer of the believer.  The believer knows this to be true.

SPIRITUAL WARFARE: The Explosive Power of the Believer’s Prayers

The prayers of the church folk are more like a wish list they would like to see happen if they had any power.

[This is NOT to say that a born again believer could not be found in one of the churches.  BUT, that believer is there IN SPITE OF what the churches do, not BECAUSE OF what the churches do.]

2- The believer KNOWS that he will experience PERSECUTION and TRIBULATION because God’s Word PROMISES those conditions to the believer.

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
–2TIMOTHY 3:12

“Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
–Acts 14:22

BUT, the believer also KNOWS that experiencing reproach for the name of Jesus is assurance that he is walking the straight and narrow path to eternal salvation.

“Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.”
–Luke 6:22

“And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.”
–Acts 5:40-41

Many of the church folk swap stories about how to avoid various upcoming unpleasantness.

ALL of this is said to emphasize that the BELIEVER has great spiritual power from God. He knows this to be true because 1- of God’s Word (which is true); and, 2- various personal experiences since he became a believer (some which were previously UNEXPLAINABLE).

In fact, some believers are so mindful of God’s explosive power–and their access to such power–they are VERY careful (and sometimes hesitant) to make use of it because it is so powerful (and power can have unintended consequences which the believer may not have considered).

It should be noted that great Godly power does not mean that the believer will suddenly have an expensive car and a grand mansion to live in. It means that whenever something needs done for the LORD, he will find that he has the power to get that thing done. Great spiritual power from God is for God’s purposes, not man’s–although occasionally, the two will intersect nicely.

3- It was telling that the complainer NEVER once raised his own shortcomings or disbelief as reasons he had no power.

It is little wonder then that the third chapter of 2TIMOTHY begins with a highly accurate description of the end times churches and those who populated them.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
–2TIMOTHY 3:1-5

Although the first few verses of 2TIMOTHY do not say explicitly, those described who have a ‘form of godliness but denying the power thereof’ are powerless.

THEREFORE: in the end times, perilous times shall come.  One of the reasons is because men have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof.

God’s Word is true.

HAS reader ever wondered about disparity between the power in his daily life and the power promised in God’s Word?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Asunder

tear us apart-

Occasionally, a thing is interesting for more than one reason.

So it was that an email was received this past week which offered ASUNDER (and its definition) as a “new word“.

Asunder

1into parts//torn asunder

NOW, it is always nice and interesting to receive a new word in one’s email.  (This happens several times each day to this writer.)

BUT, what made this particular email interesting was that the person who had sent it had also added a question at the bottom of the email.

“in the bible?”

This led to some investigation and research in order to 1- answer the question at the bottom of the email; and, 2- satisfy the curiosity raised by that question.

Here’s a few of the things learned during that investigation and research.

1- There are 21 instances in the King James Version of the word ASUNDER being used.

2- Several of those 21 times when ASUNDER was used are fairly well-known Bible passages.

3- Among the best known of the times ASUNDER is used in the Bible are Hebrews 4:12 and Mark 10:9.

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
–Hebrews 4:12

4- Mark 10:9 is perhaps the best-known of all Bible verses using the word ASUNDER.

“What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

Though not sure of how many know it today, Mark 10:9 was once known by almost ALL as part of the standard ceremony of matrimony.

BUT, as other parts of that ceremony were dumped by modern sensibilities–such as the wife’s pledge to “obey” her husband–Mark 10:9 may also have fallen by the wayside.

5- The thoughts of Mark 10:9 are echoed in Matthew 19:6.

“Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

6- Prophetically speaking, Jeremiah 50:23 is a fairly well-known verse. It is referring to an end times country known only as BABYLON, which is powerful militarily and which God destroys.

“How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!”

7- ANOTHER prophetic verse which uses ASUNDER is contained in the first few verses of Psalm 2.  The psalm refers to the plans of an evil world and its evil leaders right before the return of Jesus Christ.

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed [Jesus Christ], saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.”
–Psalm 2:1-4

Of course, the kings of the earth referred to in Psalm 2 do not believe the Lord shall have them in derision, while He laughs.  The kings of the earth do not believe God’s Word.  Which is why they are forced to live out what He who sits in the heavens has already seen.

All of that because of one three-word question at the end of a daily word.

Interesting.

DID the reader know of any of the Bible verses mentioned which use the word “ASUNDER”?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Meekness and False Teachers

teacher

“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.”
–Matthew 5:5

There are a GREAT MANY verses in God’s Word which–while not outright COMMANDS–strongly suggest the wisdom and good outcomes to be had when the believer is MEEK.

“Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.”
–Titus 3:1-2

“Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.”
–James 3:13

“(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)”
–Numbers 12:3

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”
–Colossians 3:12-13

And just so there is NO confusion, being meek means:

MEEK

1enduring injury with patience and without resentment MILD

2: SUBMISSIVE

So, the wisdom of the believer living a meek life and enduring injury with patience is advocated in God’s Word. Particularly the part about  SUBMITTING to God.

BUT–contrary to popular indoctrination–being submissive and meek does NOT mean (regardless of how many times online definitions change) being a milquetoast: it is also declared in God’s Word that the righteous are “bold as a lion.”

“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
–Proverbs 28:1

While not in direct opposition to each other, these bits of advice DO suggest that the believer should be constantly evaluating his circumstance  to determine what the right course of action should be.

Which is why the following question arose AFTER a recent encounter with a false teacher.

“There’s a time for meekness and a time for boldness. Was this the right time for boldness?”

What PROMPTED that question was an earlier query directed at the false one.

“After watching you FOR YEARS mislead so many, is it accurate to call you a false teacher? Is there a better word for what you do?”

HAS the reader ever wondered why so many media pieces over the years urged the reader to “Be assertive! Stand up for yourself!”?

DOES the reader believe being MEEK is a good thing or a bad thing.

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
