That Which is Known And What Is Unknown

The goodness of God–to those who fear God and do their very best to obey Him–is an attribute which is repeatedly referred to throughout God’s Word.

“O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”
–Psalm 34:8

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
–Romans 8:28

“Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!”
–Psalm 31:19

And the goodness of the LORD is showered upon ALL of His creation in hundreds of ways.

“The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.”
–Psalm 145:9

One Bible passage in particular, points out the goodness of God to those who thumb their noses at him. As Jesus Christ pointed out:

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”
–Matthew 5:44-45

This was recently brought to mind by one believer who thought:

“God does so many things EVERY DAY to support and to ease the paths His servants must walk. But all of that is what is KNOWN by the believer and can be seen or experienced and proper thanks rendered to the Creator of All.  What of the DOZENS of things God does each day that are NOT KNOWN?  That are done and the believer may only, PERHAPS, have an inkling of?  What of all the things God performs to smooth the path of the believer OF WHICH HE IS NOT AWARE?”

How does one offer thanks for that about which he is unaware?

These are questions which, no doubt, do NOT trouble the tares, the unsaved, the workers of iniquity and all others who enjoy the benefits of God’s goodness and who attribute those benefits to their own hard work or some other fable which pleases their flesh.

So, God’s goodness is seen in hundreds of ways, to both the deceived and the undeceived.

The undeceived give thanks for those heaven-sent benefits.

The deceived congratulate themselves and others which they have had the good sense to associate.

The deceived do not see ANYTHING as the Hand of God.

The undeceived DAILY see the Hand of God–and then wonder about all that which they do NOT KNOW.

DOES the reader ever wonder about all of the things God does for him?

OR, does the reader believe he is too sophisticated for that kind of thinking?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

The RIGHT Fear and the WRONG Fear

FEAR: How does one overcome and conquer Fear? What does the Bible say?

Not long ago, the topic of FEAR was discussed.

Although the reader may be familiar with a few of them, we present some thoughts from that discussion.

1- There is a WRONG fear and there is a RIGHT fear for man to have–athough most men would disagree that ANY fear can be a good thing.

2- The fear of MAN is the WRONG type of fear to have.

“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
–Proverbs 28:1

“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”
–Proverbs 29:25

3- The fear of God (the LORD) is a very RIGHT type of fear to have.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
–Proverbs 1:7

“By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for; And by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
–Proverbs 16:6

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom”
–Proverbs 9:10

4- Regardless of what men may claim when other men are listening, NO MAN enjoys fear.

5- Even with God’s end times judgments falling all around them, evil, deceived men will NOT fear the one raining down the calamities upon them. Rather than FEAR God and live, end times man would rather curse God in the moments he has left of his miserable life.

“And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.”
–Revelation 16:9

“And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.”
–Revelation 16:10-11

“And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.”
–Revelation 16:21

6- Why do most men curse God for the judgments which befall them?

The answer is most likely to be found in the vanity and arrogance in man which is encouraged at EVERY OPPORTUNITY by Satan and the world.

There is NO room at the top of end times man’s totem pole for both man AND God.

7- The reader would do well to remember this simple bit of end times advice: “FEAR GOD AND LIVE!”

“Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.”
–Psalm 103:13

Experiencing the Things of the World

temptation

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”
–James 4:4

Friendship with the world–as well as the things of the world–is most probably one of the BIGGEST temptations man has to overcome.

The things of the world offer delicious tastes.

The things of the world offer sweet and enticing smells.

The things of the world appeal to a man’s sight.

The things of the world offer rhythm and good beats.

BUT MOSTLY, the things of the world attract the desire of men to touch and feel them.

It is a maxim of those who work in marketing and retail: IF a store can ONLY get a person to stop for a second and pick up the product and look at it, there’s a better than 50 percent chance that the person will end up buying it.

This is one BIG reason that the area around a store cash register checkout is loaded with begging-to-be-picked-up impulse items. They attract the buyer’s attention and chances are, those things of the world will be picked and then bought.

It’s another reason for the many displays featured in superstore aisles within EASY REACH of a customer who happens to be passing by.

In the book/film Silence of the Lambs, the protagonist–who is a cannibal–makes an astute observation.

“We begin by coveting what we see every day.”

Yes, seeing is the first step to desiring something–BUT those feelings of wanting something (coveting) are made stronger by touching that something, whether it be a AA battery, a bigger car or house, a candy bar or a larger size of fries with your burger.

The things of the world are a prime temptation to man. They NEVER quit trying to drag man back to satisfying his senses.

And one of the ways man experiences that temptation is to touch it.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

HAS the reader ever considered how many things of the world he has purchased AFTER he picked one up?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

The EASY Way or the HARD Way?

On more than one occasion, a law enforcement officer has been heard offering a lawbreaker a CHOICE.

The choice always concerned someone who insisted they were NOT going to allow the police officer to take them into custody.

The choice given was “Okay, Mr. So-and-So, we can do this the easy way OR we can do it the hard way.  Which will it be?”

Almost ALL took the choice of the EASY WAY–though one fellow had to be talked down from his stiffnecked position by his friends.

This was recently brought to mind by thoughts of how God Almighty might address the heathen, the wicked, the rebellious souls who are CONVINCED they are right about God being an “imaginary friend.

Okay, Mr. Heathen, we can do this the hard way or we can do it the easy way.  Which will it be?”

Now, make no mistake: all judgments are FINAL.

Which makes them HARD when they are not favorable to the one being judged.

Particularly those who believed with all of their hearts that they would NEVER be judged.

BUT, the intro to the judgment is imagined to be easy or hard.  An “easy” introduction period before being judged at least buys the guilty party an extra five or ten minutes of non-torment.

How will the reader choose: the easy way or the hard way?

WHAT did the reader choose?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
