One of the most popular suggestions these days seems to involve someone telling readers to “Wake up!”
Not only is the general public told to “Wake up!” BUT any number of events are supposedly “wake up calls,” which are so dramatically disturbing that the event itself should serve to alert any who learn of it.
IN FACT, “wake up call” MIGHT be a more popular phrase (at the moment) than “Wake up!”
- A Nuclear North Korea’s Wake-up Call
- Patrick Mahomes: loss to Raiders was a wake-up call for the Chiefs
- Pandemic a ‘wake-up call’ for insurance industry
- Report sends out meat industry wake-up call
All of these urgent warnings to “Wake up!” prompts a few questions.
“What should the public wake up to, exactly?”
“Is this a relatively new problem?”
“How come everyone is asleep?”
“Are there any bad consequences when someone is suddenly awakened?”
IF the reader is looking for answers to the whole phenomenon of the world urging mankind to “Wake up!,” the reader has a WHOLE WIDE RANGE of topics to look at. Everything from the relationships between two countries TO the mechanisms of politics TO what people eat and drink: ALL (and many more) qualify as fertile subjects for shouting “Wake up!”
Which brings up a valid question: “Can one shout loud enough to wake up the (spiritually) dead?”
While on the topic of ‘waking up,’ one is reminded of a quote by a writer who spent his life laboring to wake up the masses in ways which were most agreeable to those in control.
“The goal of any dissident writer is to crack open the doors of perception enough to let a little light in – so that hopefully the seeds of a political reawakening will be planted.”
—Dave McGowan
HOWEVER, the believer KNOWS that most men DESIRE to stay asleep.
Most men have no more than a passing interest in the truth.
Most men realize that if they believe the truth, then they will have to change the way they live–and most men DO NOT like to change.
“That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits”
–Isaiah 30:9-10
“The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so”
–Jeremiah 5:31
Those who suppose they control the world imagine that someone shouting “Wake up!” to a man who wishes to remain asleep will do NOTHING but make that man angry.
Those who are imagined to be controlled by the elite suppose that someone shouting “Wake up!” is something more than an exercise in futility.
These days, those who DO “wake up!” to whatever they are being warned about by the world are labeled–sometimes derisively–“woke.”
The main point for the reader to remember: those who wish to remain asleep will not WILLINGLY wake up when someone shouts “Wake up!”
Shouting “Wake up!” is like being in a rocking chair: it gives the person who is shouting something to do, but they don’t get very far.
And so, the MAIN question to all of the world which appears to be urging “Wake up!”:
“Should it be ‘Wake up!’ OR should it be ‘Wake up?’”

HAS the reader read elsewhere (or been told) to “Wake up!“?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
