God Has No Faith?

empty faith meter

“God is not a man”
–Numbers 23:19

During a recent discussion, it was agreed that God had no faith.

This was, by no means, an agreement by all at the BEGINNING of the discussion.  However, by the END of the conversation, everyone generally agreed that God has no faith.

At least if one believes the Word of God.

FIRST, God is not a man.

“God is not a man”
–Numbers 23:19

Since God is NOT a man, God has no use for faith whatsoever.

FAITH is the evidence of things not (yet) seen.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
–Hebrews 11:1

There are a number of ideas which believers have a hard time wrapping their heads around (understanding)–let alone unbelievers, to whom God’s Word is foolishness.

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
–1CORINTHIANS 2:14

One of these notions has to do with the fact that GOD ALWAYS EXISTED.  He had no beginning; he has no end.

Another one has to do with God existing EVERYWHERE AT ONCE.  He inhabits every point of what man calls “time“: past, present and future.  This is how God is able to know what happens CENTURIES before man sees the event taking place.

“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,  Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure”
–Isaiah 46:9-10

BECAUSE God inhabits every point in time–past, present and future–God knows what is to happen at every point in time–which He created.

BECAUSE God sees what is to happen, he has NO NEED of faith, which is the evidence of things not seen.

BECAUSE God sees ALL, he needs no evidence of things not seen because there is NOTHING He does not see.

God has ALREADY seen the future.  God ALREADY knows what is to happen.

LASTLY, unlike man, God has absolutely NO need of faith.

HOWEVER,

Man is NOT God.

Man does NOT inhabit all points of time: past, present and future.

Man CANNOT see what is to happen.

Man does NOT see ALL.

Therefore, man NEEDS faith.

PARTICULARLY to navigate the very choppy waters of the end times.

SO, to the reader: Get faith!

How does one go about getting faith where none or little exists?

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
–Romans 10:17

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

What Must One Do to Gain God’s Approval?

approved

“Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. “
–Isaiah 1:17

The Bible is often portrayed as a book of “do’s and don’ts.

HOWEVER, there are still those who are a bit confused as to what, exactly, is God looking for in His creation (man)?

In the first chapter of Isaiah, God instructs the children of Israel on what to do in order to “do well.”

The four things are

  1. Seek judgment
  2. Relieve the oppressed
  3. Judge the fatherless
  4. Plead for the widow

For those who do not regularly follow God’s Word, “seek judgment”  means to demonstrate your devotion to God by regularly exercising fair and impartial judgment on the less fortunate or the NON-connected.

SO, if a man performs those four behaviors, he is “doing well” in God’s eyes.

But Isaiah is not the only place in God’s Word where such suggestions are made to men.

“Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word, And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates: Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place. For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people. “
–Jeremiah 22:1-4

The commands in Jeremiah are more succinct.

  1. Execute judgment
  2. Execute righteousness
  3. Deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor
  4. Do no wrong/violence to the stranger, the fatherless nor the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.

BUT, the commands in Jeremiah are essentially the same as in Isaiah: righteous judgment, relieve the oppressed, look out for orphans and widows.

These same commands are basically repeated in Micah.

“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
–Micah 6:8

Though the love of mercy appears to be a NEW command, mercy is an essential part of both judgment and righteousness. Mercy is also a prime motivator behind a desire to relieve oppressiion.

Zechariah echoes both Isaiah and Jeremiah’s declarations.

“Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother: And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.”
–Zechariah 7:9-10

These commands are further condensed a chapter later in Zechariah 8.

“These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.”
–Zechariah 8:16-17

In conclusion, to do well in the eyes of God, a man must

  1. Execute true, righteous judgment at every opportunity
  2. Relieve the oppressed by showing mercy
  3. ESPECIALLY protect orphans
  4. ESPECIALLY defend widows
  5. BUT look out for ALL who are less fortunate, both in goods and in circumstance

DOES the reader regularly follow the commands in God’s Word to “do well“?

For the Workers of Iniquity, It’s All About Being Led By the Blind

blind men and elephant

It has been remarked more than once about how the workers of iniquity KNOW the words of the Bible–BUT they do NOT understand those words.

Just as Satan knows God’s Word, but doesn’t have a clue what it means. (As was told in the accounts of Matthew 4 and Luke 4.)

This point has been illustrated down through the years–particularly when one of the workers of iniquity are trying to make a point about God’s Word.

God’s Word explains clearly why this is.

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
–1CORINTHIANS 2:14

Fortunately for the workers of iniquity–particularly those who toil in the churches–the people they are leading ALSO do not grasp God’s Word.

Someone once compared the natural man (worker of iniquity/the lost/wicked/foolish) and his trying to understand the Bible to the pagan story of the blind men and the elephant.

A group of blind men heard that a strange animal, called an elephant, had been brought to the town, but none of them were aware of its shape and form. Out of curiosity, they said: “We must inspect and know it by touch, of which we are capable”. So, they sought it out, and when they found it they groped about it. The first person, whose hand landed on the trunk, said, “This being is like a thick snake”. For another one whose hand reached its ear, it seemed like a kind of fan. As for another person, whose hand was upon its leg, said, the elephant is a pillar like a tree-trunk. The blind man who placed his hand upon its side said the elephant, “is a wall”. Another who felt its tail, described it as a rope. The last felt its tusk, stating the elephant is that which is hard, smooth and like a spear.

Because they are trying to uncover the crux of a SPIRITUAL matter by using WORLDLY techniques and logic, they are in the same position as the blind men trying to uncover what an elephant really looks like using their hands feeling one part of the elephant and trying to reach a conclusion based on their VERY incomplete information.

Jesus addressed the problem of blind leaders leading their blind followers and what happens to BOTH groups.

“And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”
–Matthew 15:10-14

Because they do NOT understand God’s Word (neither are they able), the wicked/lost/foolish attempt to discern its meaning by using the worldly methods and information at their disposal

THIS is a recipe for disaster (for the lost/wicked/foolish).

It is also one of the ways believers may easily identify the tares–regardless of the claims they may loudly make or the number of deceived people falling for such stories.

But the workers of iniquity usually follow their blind methods because it is the only thing their blind leaders know and can teach them.

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”
–Matthew 15:10-14

The Deceived Become Angry When Confronted by the Truth

angry

Something which has been noticed for a LONG time in these parts by more than one person: whenever the deceived or workers of iniquity get challenged about the world’s version of ANY of its stories, they get angry.

Another way of putting it might be,

“The deceived–particularly the workers of iniquity–get angry when confronted by the truth of a matter.”

Actually, there was MUCH wondering why this should be.  After all, by exposing a deceived person to the truth, one is merely giving them more options.

Usually, more options is considered a GOOD THING.

In fact, it has been noticed (more than once) that one way you can tell the deceived is by their reaction to the truth of a circumstance.

Many times, they grow angry.

We’re not the only ones who have noticed this.

The following is a commentary on the lies that people believe and get angry over when someone challenges the official version of some event.

But that is not the main reason that people cling so tenaciously, often even angrily, to [the Government’s Official Conspiracy Theory] … What primarily motivates them is fear.

But it is not the lie itself that scares people; it is what that lie says about the world around us and how it really functions. For if [they are] able to pull off such an outrageous [event] before the entire world, and then keep that lie in place for four decades, what does that say about the control of the information we receive? What does that say about the media, and the scientific community, and the educational community, and all the other institutions we depend on to tell us the truth? What does that say about the very nature of the world we live in?

That is what scares the hell out of people and prevents them from even considering the possibility that they could have been so thoroughly duped. It’s not being lied to about [the event] that people have a problem with, it is the realization that comes with that revelation: if they could lie about that, they could lie about anything.
Dave MacGowan

Recently, a non-believer put forth an idea on the topic which could be on the right track.

Hey, ‘the truth hurts.’

“MAYBE this is an example of that?

“MAYBE that’s why they get angry?”

Yeah, maybe.

This is not to say that answer was 100 percent correct…

…But maybe…

Has the reader ever noticed the inconsistencies in the stories he is told?

When the reader mentioned these inconsistencies to acquaintances, did some of them grow angry?

Why does the reader believe this to be?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
