Scams Are Scams Are Scams Are…

“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled? And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you”
–Mark 13:3-5

Received in the email box during the past few days: an email offering to teach me how make “more money than I ever thought possible.”

Which is how most SCAM emails begin.

Most likely, the reader has–at one time or another–been offered a similar “opportunity” to make ‘more money than he could imagine.’

SCAMS usually have a LOT of warnings attached to them.

Almost all which go unheeded.

It doesn’t matter if the scam involves trying to deceive someone and take their money OR to deceive someone and take their opportunity at eternal salvation, scams almost ALL work the same way–and the warnings are just as relevant either way.

“If something seems too good to be true, it probably is” might be the best known of these largely-ignored caveats.

BUT there are many others, most of which even warn of the specific things a scammer might tell you.

“If someone tells you ‘I did it, so can you!,” then run away as fast as you can.”

“If someone tells you, ‘You know, you NEVER run out of people,’ then they are probably pitching a pyramid scheme.”

“If someone tells you ‘This is not a pyramid scheme’ OR ‘This might LOOK like a pyramid, but it’s not’ it probably IS a pyramid scheme.”

“If someone tells you ‘I can teach you how to make more money than you can spend,’ ask them “Why?”

IF ONLY the various schemes, scams and flim-flams of the end times were as easy to spot as financial trickery…

SCAMS are as old as man has walked the earth.

IF one believes the Bible, one would expect that SCAMS would increase in the last days–because deception is rife and deception and SCAMS go hand-in-hand.

And so they are.

One gets the distinct feelings that VERY FEW scammers are going hungry these days.

Why do people keep falling for the same basic con games–though their friends and family might warn them and they may have knowledge of the particular trick being used?

As Satan can testify–if he would: the well of gullible and deceived people NEVER runs dry.

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

DOES the reader believe he is saved?
