And yet, one hears the most “cunningly-devised fables” these days.

Unfortunately, many of these come from the church folk.

Armed with numerous DVDs thoughtfully provided by the wolves (for a price of course), they proceed to tell the listener a great many entertaining stories that are simply not to be found in the Bible.

“And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

The Nephilim-mongers are one example of taking a few Bible verses out of context and spinning an entire extra-biblical narrative–but they are by no means the only ones doing this. The “Four Blood Moons” is another fable we’re hearing a lot about these days.

When informed of Christians celebrating an upcoming astronomical event with a bonfire, the response was “A bonfire? Really?”

But that’s all the further the discussion went.

Day by day, precept by precept, line by line, here a little, there a little, a new Bible is being constructed for and by Americans.

This adding to the Bible–especially the mixing of Hebrew traditions with speculation–is a heady witches brew of deception. The ones promoting these fables are the usually the same ones who preach more than one way to heaven; e.g., John Hagee.

However, anyone who has the bad manners to point out this fact is not only a spoilsport but also a prime candidate for social ostracism.

Which is not really an effective strategy as believers are directed to mark and avoid those who preach contrary to the Word.

This is one of the problems with today’s excitement–and experience-based Christianity: there’s always something new, something more required to ramp up the excitement. The gospel of Jesus Christ, how he came to earth, suffered and died to give all who believe on Him eternal life?

Not exciting enough.

In these times in which we live, those adding to the Bible are seemingly everywhere–and nowhere are they more noticeable than with their proliferation of Jewish fables and folklore, gussied up to look like God’s Word.

One would think that the many clear examples not to add to God’s Word would deter those who profess to be Christians.

But then, if that were true, we wouldn’t be talking about the problem at all.

It has been almost two years since we last touched upon the topic of “idle words.”

End Times America: A Land which Values Clever Idle Talk

It has been almost SIX years since we FIRST examined the subject.

EVERY IDLE WORD: Judgment for Blah Blah Blah

This is brought to mind again because of what Jesus said about idle words.

“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”

WHAT IS AN IDLE WORD?

This literally means a vain, thoughtless, useless word, that accomplishes no good. Here it means, evidently, “wicked, injurious, false, malicious, for such” were the words which they had spoken.

Every idle word] rhma argon, a word that does nothing, that neither ministers grace nor instruction to them who hear it.

This is a strong admonition to guard what is spoken. “Idle” words are not necessarily those casual and insignificant sayings indulged in the course of social fellowship, nor such words as may be calculated to bring a smile to care-worn faces, but rather, they are the words that betray a bias of the soul against God and expose the evil heart of the sinner.

William Burkitt had the most to say about “idle words” in his Expository Notes and Practical Observations on the New Testament:

I say unto you; I, that have always been in my Father’s bosom, and fully know his mind; I, that am constituted Judge of quick and dead, and understand the rule of judgment; I, even I, do assure you that every word that has no tendency to promote the glory of God, or some way the good of others, will fall under censure at the great day, without an intervening repentance.

Note here, That there are two sorts of words for which we must be judged; sinful words, and idle words.

Sinful words are blasphemous words, censorious words, lying and slandering words.

Idle words are such as savour nothing of wisdom and piety; that have no tendency to make men either wiser or better: how light soever men make of their words now, yet in God’s balance another day they will be found to weigh very heavy.

What a bridle should this text be to extravagant tongues! Let your speech be always seasoned with salt Colossians 4:6, that is, with wisdom, &c., for our words may mischief others a long time after they are spoken.

How many years may a frothy or a filthy word, a profane scoff, an atheistical jest, stick in the minds of them that hear it, after the tongue that spake it is dead!

—EVERY IDLE WORD: Judgment for Blah Blah Blah

IF the reader dwells in America, then the reader lives in the epicenter of idle words.

The Capital of Small Talk.

The Land where Chit Chat IS King.

This is merely a friendly reminder that EVERY idle word will be accounted for.

Every joke.

Every speculation about the neighbor girl and who she’s been dating.

All the times one “chews the fat” or “shoots the breeze“–particularly when the talk concerns others–will be laid to one’s account.

It does not matter that all of those idle words usually went in one ear and out the other: ALL idle talk will be judged by the Perfect Judge.

It does not matter that one might have grown up in a land which labeled much idle talk as “an art form.”

Idle words are idle words.

And for all of those folks who are thinking, “What’s the harm in a little small talk?”

When one’s words are played back, many times the small talk isn’t so small.

Just a reminder.

TODAY’S “FEUDS”

Everyone LOVES to hear and see DRAMA, right?

And what is more dramatic than an apparent feud among the beautiful people, right?

Particularly if the “feud” is between celebrities, politicos or royal nabobs?

IN FACT, the rich and celebrated almost never disagree: they engage in feuds–sometimes for decades after they have ceased being celebrated for anything else.

What would the beautiful people do with themselves if not for their never-ending feuds?

Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) has always had a problem: what to do when too many of the rich and celebrated have NOTHING “newsworthy” to do. When the media gets tired of reporting what the rich and celebrated are wearing, they turn to the tried-and-true method of of fake “feuds” to generate cheap, plastic “news.”

One popular singer’s entire marketing campaign over the years seems to have been based on engaging in one “feud” after another. But, as the “victims” appear to be primarily the singer’s “fans,” it’s hard to get too worked up over the ruse.

Sports, politics and celebrity culture, European royalty–wherever the rich and celebrated congregate: these are the arenas where readers can most often find stories of “feuds.”

Oh–and pro wrestling…

One can depend on those who labor for the mystery of iniquity to act, in not only an EVIL manner, but also in a very repetitive one as well.

Case in point: when two followers of Satan are working together, one of the first things they do is establish that they 1-do not like each other; 2- they hate each other; or, 3- are fighting against one another.

Democrats and Republicans, Russia and the USA, members of the same family who toil together for evil ends, famous celebrities who are “feuding” with each other: it happens so often, one occasionally has to wonder, “Does Satan have a university or school where he teaches his followers these tricks?”

One easy way to tell is the use of “Why” and “How” in the headlines of an article. Many wonder “WHY does God allows men to suffer want?”

For those deceived into believing this world is all there is, a life without wealth and/or power no doubt seems cruel.

But for those who know the truth: that this world is only a probationary period to determine where eternity will be spent, a life without wealth and/or power is practically a prerequisite for eternal joy.

But during the sojourn here, believers are asked to remember the poor; 1) to make the journey of the poor a bit easier; and, 2) to ensure that believers keep in mind “There but for the grace of God go I.”

God determines our fortune.

No, rather God IS our fortune.
