IF the reader would like to involve himself in an interesting thought experiment, he might take a few hours to walk among the multitudes of end times men and see what conclusions he is able to draw (based upon the interactions and observations which occurred during his short walkabout).
This was done–within the past few days–by this writer.
IF the reader decides to proceed with this project, he may wish to compare notes.
1- Though there may be a FEW who could be classified as “nasty,” there were a GREAT many more who could be labelled as “nice” OR “friendly” OR (even) “helpful.”
While one would be better served by this SECOND group IF one is looking in a store for a two-inch wide band of elastic, God’s Word is SILENT about God extending eternal salvation to those who are “nice” OR “friendly” OR (even) “helpful.”
2- While it may be of some assistance to assign “nice” or “nasty” labels to the multitudes of end times men one walks amongst, it should be noted that a FAR more useful classification would involve “busy-ness:” as practically ALL were involved in some sort of work, to some extent.
Some were busy at a workplace; others were busy doing the things they felt it necessary to do.
Again, the Bible is LARGELY silent about work serving as a pre-condition of eternal salvation.
ALTHOUGH, Jesus did relate a parable to His followers to “occupy” until He returned. (“Occupy” generally being understood to mean “doing the work of the Kingdom of God” or “be about productive, Kingdom business” until He returned.
“And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear. He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.”
–Luke 19:11-13
Otherwise, “work” many times may serve as a distraction to those who have avoided separating from the world and the things of the world.

3- Not only would almost NO ONE talk about “eternal salvation,” MOST seemed embarrassed–some only slightly–by the subject matter.
4- Of the very few who WERE willing to engage in a conversation about “eternal salvation,” practically ALL wanted to talk about the church they attended.
5- One man wanted to talk about a religious program he watched on TV.
There were other observations made.
And while while they might be unlisted, these additional observations are consistant with the ones which did get mentioned.
NONE proved contrary to the THREE conclusions reached after this short thought project.
1- We are DEFINITELY living in the end times.
Probably in the last days of the end times.
This became evident by, not only, the words which came out of people’s mouths, but by their cluelessness as to the times in which we now live.
2- Modern man is VERY concerned with this present life and the things of this world.
3- Modern man is not very concerned AT ALL with where he will spend eternity–beyond a few who offered that “they DO think about it.”
Which is EXACTLY how God’s Word describes the times and those who dwell upon the earth before Jesus returns.
“Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”
–Luke 28:8
DOES the reader feel this is too ‘harsh’ an assessment of the modern world?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
