Will There Come a Time When One Forgets What It Was Like Before Coronavirus?

before coronavirus

It has been over a YEAR since the stories of the coronavirus first started warping the fabric of everyday lives across the whole world.

Which led to an interesting little discussion recently.

The discussion centered around the question, “Will there come a time when you forget what it was like before coronavirus?”

This was a serious question–regardless of how many were optimistic that life would–ONE DAY, hopefully soon–return to “normal.”

One person in the discussion circle put forth the proposition that “normal” was NOT likely to EVER return–and that this would be easy enough for all present to check.

HOWEVER, this point of view was NOT that of most of the group. IN FACT, it was pointed out that this point of view was not only “pessimistic,” but that it was “NOT helpful.”

Yet, babies continue to be born.

Children continue to be raised.

IF things do NOT return to “normal,” in four or five years, there will be a class of first graders who will have known NOTHING but social distancing, masks and officials urging ALL to get the latest shot ‘so everyone can be safe.’

It has been over a year since the stories of coronavirus have turned people’s lives upside down.

Will there come a time when social distancing is no longer needed?

Will there come a time when masks are no longer needed?

Will there come a time when vaccines and the endless booster-better-stronger shots will no longer be needed?

Perhaps.

BUT, IF NOT, will the time come when Americans–who are famous for adapting to unfortunate circumstances–have adapted so well to the coronavirus that they will have forgotten what it was like BEFORE it made its appearance?

Will older people telling stories about moving about without a mask sound like those many tales of “I walked five miles to school–EACH WAY! EVERY DAY! IN THE SNOW!” ?

When the coronavirus began, officials were quick to point out that the inconveniences of coronavirus were VERY temporary and VERY necessary to “protect everyone and keep everyone safe.”

HOW LONG those ‘very temporary’ measures will stay in place is the question.

HOW LONG will they last?

OR, will the masks and all things coronavirus just DISAPPEAR–to be replaced by something worse?

Is the reader just waiting for his life to return to ‘normal’?

Is the vision in the reader’s head of ‘normal’ match the life the reader had BEFORE coronavirus–OR does it match the vision in the reader’s head of what he thought life was like back then?

HAS the reader thought about IF life NEVER returns to ‘normal’?

WHAT then? OR, is that possibility too depressing to think about?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
