Because God inhabits EVERY point in time–past, present and future–He can declare what is to happen TOMORROW with complete confidence–because God already exists in what man calls “tomorrow.”
And so it is with God’s declaration that there will be a great famine in the last days.
Not of food and water (what is usually thought about a famine), but a SPIRITUAL famine of hearing God’s Word.
“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.”
Though some in the churches teach that this critical shortage has ALREADY TAKEN PLACE, the prophet Amos is VERY CLEAR about when this spiritual famine takes place.
It happens during the final days before Jesus returns.
“And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day”
These are clear signs of the time IMMEDIATELY BEFORE the return of Jesus Christ. These signs have NEVER happened before and will not happen until the return of Jesus Christ.
One point should be emphasized: a famine of the Word of God will not truly be appreciated until it happens and the effects are felt by the non-believer.
All this is mentioned in order to remind the reader that “Time is Running Out.”
Not only is the time growing short for the return of Jesus, the time when a reader may consult the Word of God to answer his questions and soothe his fevered thoughts is ALSO tick-tick-ticking away.
IF the reader is one who has previously considered following Jesus BUT delayed making a final decision: DELAY NO LONGER.
When God’s Word is a scarcity, the number who are eternally saved will be VERY few.
Beat the spiritual famine.
Do not delay.
HAS the reader ever thought that there might be a famine of God’s Word?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
