A Reminder: The Gospel is Simple

  reminder notes

The gospel is not hard.

IN FACT, the gospel is simple.

Easy to read, easy to understand, easy to operate.

The gospel is basically five-and-a-half Bible verses; three sentences, ninety-four words.

THE GOSPEL

how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.”
–1 CORINTHIANS 3-8

The way the gospel works (strangely enough, but it IS the “power of God unto salvation TO EVERYONE THAT BELIEVETH“) is simplicity itself.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
–Romans 1:16

1- BELIEVE the gospel and be eternally saved: delivered from forever torment by your choice.

2- DO NOT BELIEVE the gospel and be eternally condemned by your choice.

Simple, huh?

It’s a simple message, easy to understand, easy to activate. And, IF believed and one’s faith is placed in the gospel message, one’s life will surely change–for the better.

Tragically, practically EVERYONE who dwells upon the earth during the last days, REJECTS the gospel message.

EVEN when the power of God is on display for the whole world to see, end times man CURSES God and does NOT repent.

“And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.”
–Revelation 16:9

“And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.”
–Revelation 16:10-11

“And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.”
–Revelation 16:21

When God’s judgment begins to fall on deceived end times man, it is tragic that end times man would rather shake his tiny fist at the sky and CURSE God, rather than change the way he has lived (repent).

The gospel is simple enough.

BUT, it is not the complexity of the gospel which keeps the wicked from changing their ways.

And enjoying eternal salvation.

DOES the reader believe–and place his hope for the future–in the gospel?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” -–Romans 1:16

Sometimes…

tree

“I think that I shall never see

A poem lovely as a tree.

Poems are made by fools like me,

But only God can make a tree.”

Alfred Joyce Kilmer, 1913

A little over one-hundred years ago, a poet named Alfred Joyce Kilmer (better known as Joyce Kilmer) penned a simple, 12-line poem titled “Trees.”

Unlike the majority of Kilmer’s work, this little poem became well-known, particularly the first and last couplets.

It is suspected that the poem became well-known because of its construction, its subject matter (familiar to almost all) and the simple comfort its verses provided.

Kilmer’s life would furnish the careful reader argument that he was not a believer.

However, Kilmer’s poem brought the small comforts of the familiar to perhaps MILLIONS. And this seeming contradiction provokes several observations.

1- Kilmer was 100 percent correct: ONLY God can make a tree.

2- Kilmer–though a non-believer–provided a means of comfort (however small it may be) to MANY down through the years–most likely including, at least a FEW believers.

3- Once more providing proof that sometimes God can and does use ANYONE to do his work.

Sometimes…

Including little known poets.

Including non-believers.

Including ALL men, no matter how wicked, evil or foolish they may appear to others.

BECAUSE the wicked, the evil and the foolish are mostly all God has to work with.

WAS the reader familiar with “Trees” or Joyce Kilmer?

Modern Love: LOVE v2.0

strange new love

STRANGE NEW LOVE

For CENTURIES, love was about what one person in love could do for the other.  When BOTH people were IN LOVE, they BOTH were mainly concerned with what they could do for each other.

For CENTURIES, love followed what God’s Word had to say about love–which is often referred to as “charity.”

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.”
–1CORINTHIANS 13:1

“And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.”
–1CORINTHIANS 13:2-3

For many who lived in ages past, the six verses of 1CORINTHIANS 13:4-8 and  13 were the very DEFINITION of what love was.

“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth…And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”
–1CORINTHIANS 13:4-8,13

Contrast these descriptions of SELFLESS love (charity) with the antics of the rich and celebrated, who constantly are in the news for their “love” which is SELFISH: that is, it puts the person in question FIRST, which that person’s considerations, feelings and behaviors AHEAD of the other person, supposedly the object of their “love.” The “love” which is chronicled DAILY in the ‘news’ is NOT love–as love was understood for CENTURIES.

Modern love is LOVE v2.0. In other words, MODERN LOVE is not love at all.

It is a STRANGE NEW LOVE.

It is DEFINITELY something else: perhaps a chemical combustion OR a business arrangement OR a convenience.

BUT, it is not love.

Listening to the rich and celebrated go on about their “love” should be enough to convince the skeptic that the rich and celebrated mostly have NO idea of what LOVE is.

The ‘love’ which is on display in the world today is PRACTICALLY  “love, null and void.”

The ‘love’ which is on display in the world today is a STRANGE NEW LOVE–which is to say, it is not LOVE at all.

A good many who are not among the rich and celebrated know NOTHING of love.  All they know is what has been pounded into their heads by entertainment, culture and MUSIC.

The ALMOST complete disappearance of traditional ‘love’ during the last days was foretold by God’s Word.

“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
–Matthew 24:12

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
–2TIMOTHY 3:1-5

Yes, to the VAST majority of moderns, any feelings of affection or warmth is likely to be from LOVE v2.0.

MODERN LOVE is, indeed, a STRANGE NEW LOVE.

HAS the reader noticed the differences between the LOVE that is traditionally honored and the modern version? TO what does the reader attribute these differences?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Can God Be Wrong?

SOMETIMES, an event will lead to a number of OTHER events.

This was effectively demonstrated recently. While scanning through some assorted musical files, a previously-undiscovered song was unearthed.

The song was a catchy little tune with a good beat, but the girl singer kept singing “God is wrong.”

This led to a number of reactions–one of which was trying to run down the identifying characteristics of the song in question: who was singing it and the name of the tune–including eventually removing the song from the collection in which it was found.

Unfortunately, ANY identifying information was never uncovered.

IF EVER there was a argument that music–especially the modern variety–was a form of propaganda and was used to indoctrinate listeners, THIS SONG could be Exhibit A.

MORE: Modern Popular Music is a Nearly-Perfect Propaganda Delivery System

Since propaganda depends upon repetition–and the singer kept repeating “God is wrong” ad infinitum–it brought up something that a past master at manipulating the public with propaganda once said. “If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it.”
Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Minister of Propaganda

THIS thought led to another thought expressed by the BOSS of the man who said that quote–himself no slouch when it came to slinging propaganda at the public.

“The victor will never be asked if he told the truth.”
–Adolf Hitler, Propaganda, the Big Lie and Adolf Hitler: 20 Hitler Quotes on Propaganda

This led to several HOURS of watching videos on YOU TUBE–mostly of atheists and non-believers making their arguments that 1- God did not exist; and 2- IF HE DID EXIST, God wasn’t very good.

Those viewings provided a few takeaways.

1- When arguing that there is no God, the non-believer ALWAYS speaks in a well-modulated voice and appears to be a paragon of reason.

2- The atheists (or anti-God groups) almost always appeal to SCIENCE! or NATURE–as if those were beyond dispute and the source of ALL truth–instead of repositories for beat-up old stories that most youngsters do not believe (before they are indoctrinated).

3- When these discussion take place in front of studio audiences, the crowd in the studio usually applauds VERY enthusiastically whenever the anti-God person APPEARS to make a good point–whether or not that point is valid.

4- The “fall-back” position seems to ALWAYS be that if “There-is-no-God” argument cannot win the day, then “I-don’t-know-that-there’s-a-God” becomes the last line of defense.

LASTLY, the task which ended up being the final one was checking to see what was written about “Can God be wrong?”

Perhaps it was because this task was the last one to be done.

Perhaps it was slowing up once one sees the end in sight.

Perhaps it was just the effects of fatigue.

WHATEVER the reason, this last task (which ORIGINALLY was the PRIMARY job), had the LEAST amount of time devoted to it.

Two appeals were INITIALLY selected–and then rejected. The first appeal was to God’s Word.

“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”
–Matthew 19:26

“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
–Luke 1:26

“Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee”
–Jeremiah 32:17

The reason for NOT relying on these little nuggets of truth should be evident. IF one is so deceived that one applauds for a person on TV who does not believe in God; if one cheers for the OBVIOUS fables of SCIENCE!, then one will most likely NOT be swayed by God’s Word–even if it is the ONLY truth that person will hear.

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.”
–Psalm 14:1

The second point to be rejected was to appeal to the experiences of the believer (which confirm God’s Word).

BUT, the experience of the believer is NOT the same experience the non-believer has.

Else, the non-believer would most certainly be a believer.

Asking a non-believer to consider experiences and testimony which he himself CLEARLY lacks is like trying to get a man who doesn’t have a CLUE what the Fourth of July is about, to spend money on fireworks to celebrate that American holiday.

SO: can God be wrong?

God CANNOT be wrong–but when God is considered by the puny intellect of man, man not only uses man’s reasoning and logic, man ALSO uses man’s point of view.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
–Isaiah 55:8-9

So, a man may THINK God is wrong…

A man may BELIEVE God is wrong…

A man may FEEL God is wrong…

BUT God is NOT wrong: God is right.

BUT because so much of what is indisputable proof is not taken as evidence by the deceived, that is where this particular point in this particular discussion will remain UNTIL those with NO EXPERIENCE in the matter gain some. DOES the reader believe God is right? OR, does the reader believe God can be–and is–wrong?

DOES the reader believe God is right?

OR, does the reader believe that God can be–and is–wrong?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
