Satan Has Had CENTURIES to Study Man

Although there has not been much written about it–and what HAS been written confirms (in so many words)–most successful predators STUDY their prey before they hunt them down.

Predators may actively search for or pursue prey or wait for it, often concealed. When prey is detected, the predator assesses whether to attack it. This may involve ambush or pursuit predation, sometimes after stalking the prey. If the attack is successful, the predator kills the prey, removes any inedible parts like the shell or spines, and eats it.

And so, Satan–as the ULTIMATE PREDATOR–stalks his prey: man.

BUT, Satan is highly intelligent–and so, Satan has studied man (and man’s WEAKNESSES) for centuries.

In order to improve his “kill rate.”

(Kill rate is part of ‘mortality rate’ OR, in Satan’s case, ‘immortality rate.’)

That Satan is a predator of man–though no other predator hunts its prey’s SOUL– is confirmed by God’s Word.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”
1PETER 5:8

As Jesus put it

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
–John 10:10

Satan–as man’s GREATEST enemy–sees mankind as one, big  juicy MAN-BURGER.

Except Satan is rarely looking to snare a man’s body: it is the man’s SOUL that Satan is interested in procuring.

Perhaps this demonstrates to Satan a sort of victory over MAN, Satan’s arch-enemy?

Maybe Satan believes this demonstrates to God the flaws in His creation?

Maybe misery REALLY does like company?

Or maybe, Satan just enjoys the thrill of the chase?

Perhaps it’s a bit of all four?

Whatever the reason, Satan is the apex SPIRITUAL predator of unsaved men everywhere, at every time–but especially during the last days.

Like any good hunter, Satan will pick out the weakest member of the pack to attack first. And how is the ‘prince of this world’ to know who is the weakest, but through STUDY.

And Satan studies man to find those with the biggest spiritual weakness (sin).

Vanity, greed, lust are some of the best-known spiritual weaknesses of man.  But there are others: gluttony (a type of lust), a desire to be ‘somebody,’ chasing after the things of the world, idolatry and MORE.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
–1JOHN 2:15-16

One thing about Satan: he is a leisurely hunter: he will get around to better men EVENTUALLY, but he will take the low-hanging fruit first.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
–Ephesians

Satan’s VERY LAST choice among the men he preys on is the follower of Jesus Christ.

Probably because the believer possesses the tools to fight back against the wiles of the devil.

–Ephesians 6:10-12

So, once more: as a hunter of men’s souls, Satan studies man, particularly to identify those who are spiritually weakest.

What will Satan find when he studies the reader?

Most importantly, does the reader know what Satan will find?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

Slandering the Righteous

“He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.”
–Proverbs 10:8

One of the favorite past times of those who PRETEND to be Christians (tares) is to SLANDER those who God Himself has declared to be righteous.

Any number of websites join in this slander of the righteous. IF the reader is interested enough, he might do some research on the topic.

There are TWO, in particular, to which the workers of iniquity have turned their attention.

Noah and Lot.

First, the workers of iniquity will take up whether Noah (or Lot) was a righteous man because of some behavior which the Bible records.

Next, because non-believers know VERY LITTLE about sin OR how God treats the sin of each man, they demonstrate their ignorance of God’s Word by declaring that Noah (or Lot) was unrighteous due to their recorded behavior.

First, let’s look at Noah.

Noah, after he landed the ark, got drunk.

“And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.”
–Genesis 9:20-21

Is drinking a model behavior of the righteous?

No, it is not.

HOWEVER, God did not impute this sin to Noah.

Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”
–Romans 12:8

God’s Word also recorded a time when God did not charge David’s sin to his spiritual account.

“And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.”
–2SAMUEL 12:13

Back to Noah.

God’s Word SPECIFICALLY mentions that NOAH was a righteous man–which should put an END to the discussion.

UNLESS THE PERSON DOES NOT BELIEVE THE WORD OF GOD.

“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. “
–Hebrews 11:7

And God’s Word not only proclaims Noah to be righteous, it does it more than once.

“Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.”
–Ezekiel 14:14

It is much the same situation for Abraham’s nephew, Lot.

After he escaped from the overthrow of Sodom, Lot was made drunk by his daughters–who then laid with Lot and bore children by him.

“And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.”
–Genesis 19:30-36

So, yes, Lot was guilty of both incest and drunkenness, YET Lot’s judgment is decreed in God’s Word as well.

“And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)”
–2PETER 2:6-8

Conclusion:  BOTH Noah and Lot are judged “righteous” by God’s Word.

Who, then, will condemn them?

Other than those who spend their time slinging stones at those proclaimed to be “righteous” by God.

God and the Deceived

BLIND and DECEIVED

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. “
–Colossians 2:8

It is God who saves the deceived lost souls of the world, NOT the believer.

And it is through God’s great mercy (grace) that the lost are saved.

“For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”
–Romans 9:15

When one FIRST becomes a believer, he becomes aware of the charge laid upon him to warn the deceived world and save souls.

“…he that winneth souls is wise.”
–Proverbs 11:30

Though this sudden desire to warn the deceived is NOT understood by former friends and family.

THEN, after the reality of an end times world hits home, the believer realizes that end times man is hopelessly deceived.

Finally, the believer realizes it is GOD who saves the lost, NOT the believer.

“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”
–2CORINTHIANS 3:5-6

Oh, the believer may offer a hook for the lost to hang his hat on, but when push comes to shove, it is GOD who decides who will enter the kingdom of heaven–and who will not.

And make no mistake: GOD is moved by FAITH: in particular, by the FAITH of that lost soul.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
–Jeremiah 29:13

Faith does NOT mean shouting, “I believe!” at a revival.

Faith does NOT mean signing a card at a church meeting promising to support the church.

Faith does not mean repeating “I have faith! I believe!”  in front of men.

Faith means doing the things that God’s Word says must be done to exhibit that faith.

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
–Hebrews 11:6

There comes a time when a lost, deceived one either wants to know God–really KNOW God–OR who makes a decision that all of this ‘God-talk’ is nothing more than self-serving nonsense.

Perhaps, it is to this soul who has decided to try and know God better than he has before, that the believer will stumble upon.  AND THEN, what the believer might offer will ‘fit’ into what that lost soul is searching for.

And this may only happen once or twice (or no time that the believer is aware) BUT it is enough for  the believer to redouble his efforts.

God UNDERSTANDS that end times man is deceived. After all, God created end times man.

BUT, understanding is NOT excusing.

The believer wades in among the vast horde of deceived unbelievers and brings them the gospel of Jesus Christ

As he was commanded to do.

The believer may serve as a stimulus for salvation; the believer may serve as a spur to salvation; the believer may serve as a catalyst for salvation.

BUT, it is GOD who saves the lost, NOT the believer.

“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. “
–Psalm 34:4-5
