“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. “
–1SAMUEL 15:23
A great many wander about, chattering on the topic of REBELLING against the authorities.
There are at least six Bible verses which command the follower of God and Jesus Christ–actually, they command ALL men–NOT to rebel against the civil authorities.

The advocates for rebellion and revolt usually trot out the same tired arguments about ‘tyrants’ being the leaders today OR the same tired question, “Are you a man or a mouse?”
In Peter’s First Epistle, the apostle writes about Christians being persecuted (by real tyrants!).
Does Peter advise rebellion?
“Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men”
–1PETER 2:13-15
Guess the apostle Peter would NOT have made much of an American founding father–which is yet ANOTHER tired argument one hears from the rebellion-pushers.
“The founding fathers were rebels! Are you saying there’s something wrong with the founders?”
A GREAT MANY who promote rebellion are the church folk.
By a great coincidence, a compadre from a long-ago Bible college showed up on the doorstep this past week and was urging rebellion as the thing to do.
“Where do you draw the line?”
(AS IF the previously-offered “When the law of man disobeys God’s Word, then you are not to obey man’s law–NOT rebel.” somehow was powerless to answer that question.)
There will be any number of friends, family, acquaintances and hardly-know-’ems who will be talking up rebellion as the ‘way to go.’
Some of these talkers will be dyed-in-the-wool workers of iniquity.
Other of these talkers will just be those who follow along after such men.
Still others of this group will be those who REALLY are convinced by all of the idle chatter and want to try their hand at being rebels.
ALL will be acting contrary to God’s Word.
IF the reader wishes to remain in God’s good graces, he will ignore these vain talkers.
“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”
–Romans 13:1-2
IF the reader does not believe in God or Jesus Christ, then, by all means, follow these men wherever they may lead.
(The reader should be reminded that a good answer to any who advocate rebellion is “You first.”)
This piece will close with an offering of what are SURELY the most DETESTED Bible verses in America: from Romans 13.
“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”
–Romans 13:1-2
HAS the reader heard any of this chit chat lately about rebellion?
DOES the reader believe this to little more than idle talk–OR, does the reader believe this all sounds good and reasonable?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
