“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
–Galatians 6:7-8
Whether one believes it or not, God created the world and entire universe.
God THEN set up the “laws” and “rules” which govern His creation.
God’s creation centered around MAN–so it makes perfect sense that God ensured that MAN would have access to God’s Word (IF man wanted it), which explained and gave warnings about the creation that man now inhabited.
God set up this creation in order to find a few men who would CHOOSE to worship and fear God above ALL else that that creation offered man.
Because God wanted men who would freely CHOOSE Him, God created man to enjoy FREE WILL. And, as part of that free will, man could either OBEY God’s commands (found in God’s Word) OR, he would ignore them.
Man was free to CHOOSE to ignore God’s Word, but God’s Word warned that there would be CONSEQUENCES for that action.
So, man is FREE to ignore God’s Word–BUT, there are CONSEQUENCES for such behavior.
These consequences are exhibited throughout God’s creation daily. Still, there are many who have grown accustomed to ignoring God’s Word.
These people who choose to ignore God’s commands still suffer the consequences from their behavior–whether they believe that behavior contributes to their woes or not. Of course, Satan and the world want those people who ignore God’s Word to believe that EVERYTHING is a physical, cause-and-effect relationship.

It is NOT.
Ignore what God’s Word commands about GLUTTONY?
Obesity and a host of physical problems are the CONSEQUENCES of such actions.
Ignore what God’s Word commands on focusing on the things of the world and chasing after such material stuff?
A compulsion to accumulate those items is one CONSEQUENCE. Never mind that no matter how many items one might accumulate, NO MAN has figured out a way to take his items with him upon passing from this life.
Another CONSEQUENCE might be that the hoarder concentrates so much on the accumulation of trinkets that he usually ignores those non-physical things which make others happy.
(This does NOT include the more severe CONSEQUENCE of such disobedience on receiving eternal life.)
A question which might pop up is, “Do followers of Jesus Christ also suffer those consequences of not following God’s commands?”
The answer is a most definite “YES!”
Though God’s great mercy has allowed those actions to NOT be charged to that believer as far as eternal salvation goes, the believer STILL suffers the consequences of his disobedience. Those consequences are often employed by God in His chastening, which is a type of learning process God uses which makes the chastened uncomfortable.
“For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”
–Hebrews 12:6
God does NOT chasten the unbeliever: He judges him.
“Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.”
–Hebrews 12:11

So, to all who freely IGNORE God’s Word: man is certainly able to do that as much as he desires.
HOWEVER, one does NOT escape the CONSEQUENCES for one’s actions–regardless of what one believes.
DOES the reader ignore what is written in God’s Word?
DOES the reader instead listen to what other men have to say about a topic on which God’s Word has clearly delivered a verdict?
It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
