Recently, it was brought to light that SOME do not believe that PRIDE is a sin.
Or, at least SOME have asked (in an almost sneering way), “WHY is pride a sin?”
PRIDE is a sin for several reasons.
1- God’s Word is CLEAR about how God feels about PRIDE and THE PROUD.
“When pride cometh, then cometh shame”
–Proverbs 11:2
“And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”
–Matthew 23:12
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
–Proverbs 16:18
“Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
–1PETER 5:5
“The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.”
–Psalm 10:4
“Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.”
–Proverbs 16:5
2- Though many moderns will disagree, PRIDE is an exaltation of SELF, rather than God. It is actually the elevation of one’s OWN authority over every other authority: even God’s.

3- Elevating ANYTHING above God is idolatry.
And idolatry is HATED by God.
“Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.”
–Leviticus 19:4
4- God created man for His own reasons.
And NOWHERE in God’s Word does it state that those reasons included man’s exaltation of himself over God.

DOES the reader NOW understand why this is so?
It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
