Biblical Warnings Are For the FEW Who Heed Them

warning

In God’s Word, those who are believers are charged with warning those who are NOT.

As Jesus Christ Himself has said,

“He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”
–John 12:25-26

IN FACT, the very last words of Jesus when He was on earth were,

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
–Matthew 28:19-20

And so, believers are charged to warn non-believers of the coming of God’s judgment upon the earth and those who dwell upon it.

Yes, the warnings of the Bible go largely unheeded today.

Yes, man is deceived–and the deceived will NOT be warned of their coming doom.

Yes, the last days before Jesus returns are days when Satan and his followers are strong–and Satan is an arch deceiver.

“…that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world”
–Revelation 12:9

BUT, has the reader ever stopped to wonder why a FEW will stop and consider, and in doing so, will be saved; that almost ALL do not heed the Bible’s warnings and so, condemn themselves?

Perhaps those few who, however reluctantly, heed the TRUTH of the warnings found in God’s Word, do not even know themselves why they listened.

But they did–and they are proof that Biblical warnings are for the FEW who heed them.

ALL may hear, but FEW will listen.

God’s warnings are for the FEW who will listen.

So, it matters NOT how many times those who will not listen hear the warnings, they will NOT listen to them.

As God has tread the paths of this present time long before, He knows who it is that will listen.

IS the reader listening?

It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

Stories

telling a story

Before their time on earth is done, modern folks will hear a GREAT many stories: stories about HOW the world supposedly works; stories about HOW the world and its various components supposedly function (and work so much better due to SCIENCE!); stories about HOW people supposedly got into this world and stories about HOW they supposedly will leave this world.

Stories.

The reader WILL (as it has already been declared) hear quite a few of them.

MORE

IN FACT, it could be argued that the reader–over the course of his life–will hear MORE stories than he will hear the truth.

OF COURSE, none of this matters if what the reader desires is to be told a lovely story–instead of the truth.

Unfortunately, the LARGE MAJORITY of moderns would rather hear a lovely story than the truth of the matter.

“Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.”
Winston Churchill

This is unfortunate because, NOT having THE LOVE OF THE TRUTH, those who desire a pleasant story will get their wish–for eternity.

“And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
–2THESSALONIANS 2:10-12

Strong delusion: it’s AS IF God has said, “You want to hear lies, okay, I’ll make sure that’s all you hear!”

Stories.

MOST know there are problems with the stories they have been told.  They KNOW this because it all just doesn’t add up.

(It’s VERY hard for even accomplished liars to get ALL of the many parts of their stories straight.  This is one reason liars change their stories so often.)

But MOST who are confronted with the truth, choose to live their lives according to the stories they have been told.

Rather than the truth.

They CHOOSE this because it is EASIER for them to do so–at least, for a little while.

They CHOOSE lies rather than the truth because they are more comfortable with lies.

They CHOOSE stories rather than investigating whenever they turn up inconsistencies in those stories because their WHOLE LIFE is revolves around those stories.  IF they did not believe them, they would have to change so many parts of their lives–and that would be too much trouble.

Whatever the reason, the modern world is a construct built on stories.  This is mostly because the modern world will see Satan make his grand play for it–though the devil ultimately falls on his face.

Years ago, one could recognize a story when it was being told because it opened with “Once upon a time…”

One quite popular story opened with “Once upon a midnight dreary…”

Snoopy–of Peanuts‘ fame–often opened HIS stories with “It was a dark and stormy night…”

IF ONLY the reader would closely examine the various parts of a story when he became aware they “don’t add up.”

IF ONLY the reader had a “love of the truth.”

IF ONLY all those stories opened with a line that would announce to the world, “I am a story: nothing more, nothing less.”

Instead, many modern stories begin with “Today in Washington…”

WHAT does the reader do whenever he notices that one part of a story is IMPOSSIBLE (based on other stories he has been told)?

DOES the reader make excuses for that story’s lies?

“Oh, the writer was probably in a hurry and wasn’t thinking!”

It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Why Was the Prophet Jonah Running Away From God?

Jonah the prophet cast out of the great fish

Ask 100 people about the prophet Jonah (whose Biblical accounts–and adventures!–are contained in his Book in the Bible–which is one of the SHORTEST [4 chapters] Books in the Bible.) and probably 90+ know that Jonah was swallowed by a great fish. (It doesn’t say “whale” as most believe–but then, who knows?  Perhaps great fish were called “whales” in those days?)

Those 90+ percent will likely feel pretty good that they know that Jonah was swallowed (Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights).

But, HOW did Jonah find himself to be in the belly of that great fish?

What other things did that prophet do?

MOST do not know.

And so, this piece will answer the questions: “Why was Jonah running away from God?” AND “What happened to Jonah?”

WHY WAS JONAH RUNNING AWAY FROM GOD?

It seems a bit odd that a prophet of God would, not only DISOBEY Him, BUT, would try running away from God.

But that’s what the prophet Jonah did.

Even the pagans KNOW better than that!

“Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. “
–Jonah 1:1-3

So, God told Jonah to go to Ninevah and “cry against it” (warn it it was headed for God’s judgment–and destruction).

BUT INSTEAD, Jonah decided that he would try to run away from God by booking passage on a ship to Tarshish–which is in the OPPOSITE direction from Ninevah.

This obviously did not work out well.

“But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep. So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not. And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou? And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land.

“Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you. Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them. Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man’s life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee. So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging. Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.”
–Jonah 1:4-16

So, EVEN WHEN DISOBEDIENT, Jonah brought the mariners to the LORD.

THAT is how the prophet found himself in the sea.

BUT, God wasn’t finished with His fleet-footed prophet.

“Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.”
–Jonah 1:17

So that was how Jonah found himself running away from God (as a Hebrew, Jonah was aware that Ninevah wanted to conquer ALL nearby lands–including Israel;–as a prophet, Jonah knew Ninevah WOULD conquer Israel: so Jonah did NOT want Ninevah to be warned; Jonah wanted Ninevah to be destroyed).

WHAT HAPPENED TO JONAH AFTER THE FISH INCIDENT?

FIRST, Jonah prayed to God.

“Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.”
–Jonah 2:1-2

NEXT, God had the fish deposit Jonah on land.

“And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.”
–Jonah 2:10

THEN, Jonah agreed to go to Ninevah–as he should have done in the first place.

“And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD.”
–Jonah 3:1-3

NEXT, Jonah walked through Ninevah and cried, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.”  And–to Jonah’s great surprise (and disappointment), the people of Ninevah PAID ATTENTION to Jonah and repented of its evil–and God spared it (for awhile UNTIL it eventually turned back to evil again.).

“So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.”
–Jonah 3:5,10

FINALLY, Jonah was ANGRY with God for sparing Ninevah (whom Jonah knew would cause Israel much grief).

The fourth chapter of Jonah tells of how God reasoned with Jonah over this matter.

“Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry?”
–Jonah 4:4

HOW MUCH did the reader already know of the Biblical account of Jonah?

WAS the reader surprised by ANY of the account?

It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

RANDOM THOUGHTS 13
Originally posted: September 21, 2021

Various bits of miscellany which have accumulated (mostly on sticky notes) since the last RANDOM THOUGHTS (almost four months ago).

+ Perhaps this edition of RANDOM THOUGHTS ought to be labeled “Continuing Updates,” since several of the notes have to do with checking the Corporate Media’s (Satan’s Mouthpiece) progress on assorted story lines they had begun.

+ OR, perhaps this edition of RANDOM THOUGHTS should be titled, “GREAT End Times Changes,” as several of the notes have to do with the sundry CHANGES which have taken place over the last twelve-fifteen months.

+ One of fashion’s latest trends–which started many years ago–is the wearing of sunglasses in order to portray the wearer as an effortlessly COOL person.  Yes, we know the rocksters have been doing this for years, but it seems to be spreading to other pockets of the rich and celebrated. NOT ONLY THAT, but it appears that there are regular, ordinary people who walk among us who believe that if they don a pair of shades, they have somehow changed the composition of their being.  They have not–but this hasn’t stopped these hipsters, young and old, from  trying.  SOME go so far as to alter their speech patterns once they put on their casually COOL sunglasses. IF the reader believes that his whole persona CHANGES when he sports a pair of dark glasses, there is NOTHING that can be said to him to disabuse him of this notion.  MAYBE, when one sees one of these poseurs, the BEST thing that can be said is “Wow!  You REALLY look good in those sunglasses!”  Of course, the reader should be aware that this will only encourage such folks.

RANDOM THOUGHTS

+ Perhaps NOTHING illustrates the modern reliance on MAN and the SCHEMES OF MAN (including government-backed schemes) to, not only provide comfort and joy, but also to soothe whatever nerves might be fraying due to worry about the future AS the various plans involving  Social Security–or other privately-administered retirement programs.

+ The most common reactions to ANY suggestions that these programs will soon enough be nothing more than a bad memory, seems to fall into four groups.

a- The first group reacts with COMPLETE and UTTER DENIAL.  “Why do you say that?  No, it will be fine! They have very smart people working night and day to make sure that never happens!”

b- The second group reacts with (what they feel) is REASONED DENIAL.  “They would never let that happen!”  “I deserve that much!”  “Any politician that would let Social Security fail would be looking for another job ASAP!”

c- The third group reacts with DENIAL based on how many years they expect to live. “I worked hard for that!  Take it away? It COULD happen, but I’ll be dead and gone when it does!”

d- The fourth and final group reacts by ATTACKING anyone who suggests that the gravy train will soon stop. “You’re one of those nay-sayers.  What are you: a Communist?”

+ The number of folks who seem totally baffled by the details of modern conveniences–such as hooking up a DVD player to a modern TV–appears to be growing.  This was evidenced lately when, upon stopping to chat with an acquaintance, the visitor was met with a query, “Are you an electronics person?”   Now, the reader should be cautioned that NO surveys were conducted; NO studies performed; NO testing of this observation in ANY form was done.  It is only an observation based on the many pleas received OR the number of folks who have taken EXTRAORDINARY measures to ensure that their TVs or cellphones are working properly.  These are NOT technologically-challenged knuckle-draggers, but they include a man who recently invested, not only in some woodworking tools, but also LUMBER and hardware, so that his TV would receive the optimum number of channels from his somewhat-complicated antenna setup.

“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled? And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you”
–Mark 13:3-5

Though mankind is warned REPEATEDLY in God’s Word about DECEPTION during the end times, most completely ignore whether they are lied to or whether they are told the truth DEPENDING upon how favorable their circumstances are at that moment. The ONE circumstance which Jesus Christ Himself cautioned against was end times deception, including the deceptions associated with false prophets and false Christs.

+ Yet, Americans in particular (though they may loudly protest), are okay with lies AS LONG AS THE GRAVY TRAIN KEEPS ROLLING.  The country can be falling apart, American leaders might be ESPECIALLY terrible, and the culture might be bleeding sewage, but as long as the checks and money keep flowing, Americans might grumble about the other stuff, but they’ll “roll with it.” It is STRONGLY suggested that once the bucks stop, Americans will suddenly discover they have been LIED TO!

Heavens.

+ Was wondering the other day about HOW MANY have bought their “Team SCIENCE!” T-shirts?

IF one is going to fall for the stories, one really should go all in.

+ Headlines from the past few months about cars going bye-bye.  The reasons given most frequently are 1) giving up cars is good for the planet; and, 2) Cars are too expensive for the average person to own.  (Of course, the government and Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) will NEVER run out of REASONS WHY prices are so high, money is so tight or products you need are so scarce.

MORE

+ RE the promises of man: WHOEVER is president of the USA–when the USA ‘goes out of business,’–will be remembered by future generations of Americans as a FAILURE: a goof; a bonehead; a fool of the highest order.

+ The ‘pandemic’ and all of its associated stories seem to have slowed down the rush to make HALLOWEEN into the Great American Holiday Season.

We will see…

WHAT ‘random thoughts’ does the reader have to ADD TO these?
