Basing One’s Life On the Stories One Has Been Told

telling a story

“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled? And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you”
–Mark 13:3-5

Modern man is told a GREAT number of stories.

Stories about his world.

Stories about the men who live now or who, at one time, lived in this world.

Stories about HOW this world works.

Stories about almost EVERY facet of modern man’s existence.

So, the world and those who are workers of iniquity LIE to the reader about almost every iota of his life.

BUT, most moderns do NOT care that they believe lies about almost every part of their existence.

Because modern man WANTS to believe those stories; wants to believe those lies.

Because modern man’s life is MUCH MORE comfortable if he puts his trust in lies instead of the truth.

In fact, the great majority–even though they know something is not quite right about those stories they are told–base their life on those tales.

As was written a few months ago:

MOST know there are problems with the stories they have been told.  They KNOW this because it all just doesn’t add up.

(It’s VERY hard for even accomplished liars to get ALL of the many parts of their stories straight.  This is one reason liars change their stories so often.)

But MOST who are confronted with the truth, choose to live their lives according to the stories they have been told.

Rather than the truth.

They CHOOSE this because it is EASIER for them to do so–at least, for a little while.

They CHOOSE lies rather than the truth because they are more comfortable with lies.

They CHOOSE stories rather than investigating whenever they turn up inconsistencies in those stories because their WHOLE LIFE revolves around those stories.  IF they did not believe them, they would have to change so many parts of their lives–and that would be too much trouble.

Whatever the reason, the modern world is a construct built on stories.  This is mostly because the modern world will see Satan make his grand play for it–though the devil ultimately falls on his face.
Stories

So, modern man bases his life on fictions he has been told–MANY from an early age.

Why do moderns choose to believe falsehoods?

Perhaps it because so many moderns want to be part of the “smart set” –and it is hard to be a part of the ‘smart set’ UNLESS one believes what the ‘smart set’ believes?

Perhaps it is a LOVE OF COMFORT–and believing popular stories–along with most other people one knows–makes one’s life more comfortable?

Perhaps it is because so many moderns were raised in an Age of Advertisements–and advertising has been called “legalized lying”?

“Advertising is legalized lying.”
H.G. Wells

During the Age of Advertising, one is told that if one uses the right cologne, one will be IRRESISTIBLE to the opposite sex.

One is also told that if one drives a certain make of automobile, one will be intensely popular.

And, one is told that if one subscribes to the right media, one will not be full of LIES, but full of KNOWLEDGE and WISDOM.

So, it is not hard to understand how a people raised on tall tales and untruth would, not only believe those stories, BUT construct their ENTIRE LIVES around falsehoods.

After all, there are those who buy certain cars as a substitute for their lack of personality: they feel that in order to be popular with the opposite sex, if they drive around in a certain car, they do not NEED a winning personality.

How completely unnecessary and tragic that so many moderns will discover their lives have been little more than fiction when Jesus returns.

And mostly because they will discover that Jesus Christ Himself is NOT a fiction–as they have been led to believe.

BUT UNTIL THAT DAY, the great majority of moderns are happy enough with hearing and living a popular story.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

As Long As Satan Is the Prince of This World, Those Who Sin Will Be Rewarded

Satan falling

[ACTUALLY, it is much more ACCURATE to proclaim, “As Long as Satan is Prince of This World, Those who Sin Will APPEAR TO Be Rewarded.”]

God’s Word informs the reader that Satan is the ‘prince of this world.’

“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”
–John 12:31

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”
–John 16:7-11

“Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.”
–John 14:30

As prince of this world, Satan is known for rewarding his workers of iniquity (sinners).  Whether this is true or not, this is what Satan’s followers believe: they believe that by doing the will of Satan, they will be rewarded with the treasure of this world.

HOWEVER, the REAL reward of sin is death.

“Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”
–James 1:15

However, those who follow Satan desperately desire to believe something else entirely.

AND SO, those who follow Satan and sin will receive the reward of sin: death.

All who follow the prince of this world will sin.

Satan PROMISES a great many rewards to his followers.

IF ONLY, Satan’s followers would ask, “Can I trust the promises of a KNOWN liar?

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
–John 8:44

Satan’s time as ‘prince of this world’–as well as his influence on human events–ENDS with the return of Jesus Christ.

Until then, Satan’s stories of the worldly treasure to be had from disobeying God will hold sway–PARTICULARLY among the deceived.

Satan promotes the story that his followers will be richly rewarded with the things of this world.

Mostly money.

Satan does NOT promote the ONLY sure reward of sin: death.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
–Romans 6:23

DOES the reader believe that the way to riches is through disobedience and sin?

DOES the reader believe the words of Satan?

Most Men Do NOT Believe in God, Yet Still Believe They Can Outsmart God–IF He Exists

outsmart

Man may not be all-knowing, but man is all-proud–particularly of his own self and his meager accomplishments.

“The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?”
–Psalm 12:3-4

Man has ALWAYS struggled to keep his PRIDE in check, but Modern Man has especially suffered from this flaw.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy”
–2TIMOTHY 3:1-2

The Creator of ALL promises to deal harshly–though fairly–with those who are PROUD.

“And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease…Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.”
–Isaiah 13:11,13

End times man believes himself so clever that he thinks he can outsmart a God in which he claims he does not believe.

This is particularly true of all those who make their elaborate plans to circumvent God’s judgment during the last days.

This is ESPECIALLY true of the survivalist/prepper community, who believe they can PREPARE for that which is not able to be prepared.

Perhaps the most surprised of all men will be those wicked souls who did NOT believe they would EVER have to deal with either 1) a creator intent on judging them for their deeds; or, 2) ANY kind of judgment for their actions in this life.

IF end times man was not so proud and so eaten up with arrogance, he would no doubt AT LEAST PONDER whether he would continue being wicked IF he knew that by doing so he was fulfilling God’s will.

Man CANNOT outsmart God: man does not posses the abilities needed for such a task.

But then, God’s Word would NOT be true.

And these words would NOT be written.

DOES the reader live his life as HE sees fit?

DOES the reader think God is just a story for those who are not very smart?

It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
