One sign of the time in which we now live is the coarseness of modern discourse.
Words of a vulgar type–which once were not heard in public among the learned–are, in modern times, not only heard but celebrated as a way of showing that one is up-to-the-minute cool and fashionable.
The language of modern politics is the language of professional wrestling: filled with name-calling, filthy imagery and insults.
The coarseness of modern speech overwhelms most readers as media, culture, entertainment and other facets of ‘acceptable’ behavior freely use and promote such previously-verboten words.
[The reader can most probably compile a list of speech which would NOT have been used in public only 15-20 years ago.]
Unspoken is the world’s promise that, if such speech is used, it signifies that the user is merely employing the world’s latest tools to demonstrate his ‘open-mindedness.’
IN FACT, to point out that such language is coarse and low is to mark one as a ‘fuddy-duddy‘ in the minds of the worldly.
In reality, dirty words are dirty words.
And ALL dirty words–particularly those used in passing–will be judged.
As usual, God’s Word has given its verdict of such talk.
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”
–Ephesians 4:29
“The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.”
–Proverbs 15:28
As Jesus Christ Himself once warned:
“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.”
–Matthew 12:36
The degradation of public language is one more sign of men favoring the world’s values over God’s.
OF COURSE, God’s Word details the degradation of, not only men’s speech, but of men themselves.
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God”
–2TIMOTHY 3:1-4
Those who promote such things will be quick to reply that “It has always been so.” That EVERY older generation has complained of the wickedness of the younger.
AS IF, this somehow invalidates the complaints of those earlier generations.
HAS the reader noticed this coarseness of public speech?
THEN the reader needs to know that it will continue to get WORSE before it gets better.
It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?

DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
