New Year’s Eve 2021 and New Year’s Day 2022

Writing a few thoughts about New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day might be the BEST of all worlds: one gets to look back at 2021 and look forward and speculate about 2022.

ONE such thought has already been expressed previously.

New Year’s Eve is perhaps the lone time when the NIGHT BEFORE a holiday is celebrated more than the holiday itself.

One way to prove this is to look at all of the stores which close EARLY on New Year’s Eve, but which maintain regular business hours on New Year’s Day–even though New Year’s Day is a federally-recognized holiday in the USA and New Year’s Eve is nothing more than a tradition.

Another way to prove this is the time off store employees receive. On New Year’s Day, many employees have to put in their hours; on New Year’s Eve, however, they get time off to enjoy the various New Year’s Eve celebrations.

A reader just informed that “they really do New Year’s Eve RIGHT in Boston–but they don’t all it New Year’s Eve. They call it “FIRST NIGHT.”

The reader was then informed that FIRST NIGHT is a VERY OLD tradition–even if the modern iteration of it only goes back ‘less than 50 (47) years.’

The events of Yule are generally held to have centered on midwinter (although specific dating is a matter of debate), with feasting, drinking, and sacrifice (blót).

IF the person doing the looking back is doing so BEFORE the clock strikes 12 on Friday night, then he is STILL in 2021.

IF the person doing the speculation about the coming year is doing so AFTER the clock strikes 12 on Friday night, then he is in 2022.

Since this piece is being written while it is STILL 2021, a few thoughts about the year that is quickly coming to a close might be appropriate.

1- A GREAT MANY CHANGES took place in 2021: changes which have introduced the living into a completely NEW and DIFFERENT way of conducting their daily life.

2- IF the reader was TOTALLY honest with himself–and face it, who is?–he would have to admit that it seems VERY likely that 2021 demonstrated (if nothing else) that COVID and all related words/diseases/habits are NOT a temporary state of affairs, but are here to stay.

3- COVID-19 (the coronavirus) came onto the scene in 2020 (along with the usual government/media types predicting it would be gone in a few months); 2021 is the first YEAR where the population STARTED THE YEAR with COVID-19 and ENDED THE YEAR in much the same manner.

4- IF 2021 featured nothing else, it provided HUNDREDS of stories churned out by Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) on EVERY aspect of a modern life lived with COVID-19. This included the financial ramifications, the health and beauty aspects of dealing with the disease, what to do when relatives come to call, as well as information on ALL THINGS COVID-19.

5- As with ANY campaign constructed in order to get the folks at home marching together to wherever it is they are supposed to march, the press changed stories VERY QUICKLY: FIRST, the voices in the media urged ALL to get vaccinations “so everyone can be safe again.” THEN, it was “Oh, you ALREADY have a vaccination or TWO? Then, you probably need a BOOSTER SHOT!”

There were other newsworthy happenings in 2021, but COVID-19 (with all of its MANY tales) EASILY topped the list.

Now, what’s in store for 2022?

1- More of the same and MUCH MORE of it.

2- How many readers believe they have seen the last of the shots?

One suspects that vaccination shots, booster shots, super booster shots, super duper booster shots and whatever else sticks to the wall when the government/media types hurl their spitwads at it will become the ‘normal’ state of affairs.

And the government/media types will continue to beat the drums HARD to beg/cajole/plead that the citizens undertake measures which have PROVED TO BE INEFFECTIVE (such as the latest shot).

3- Remember ‘NORMAL’?

‘Normal’ means “usual” OR “expected.”

What does the reader believe will be the ‘usual’ in 2022?

One question: “If the UNUSUAL becomes what is expected, is the UNUSUAL then the “NEW NORMAL” everyone talks about?”

4- In answer to several who have asked the question (“Will Jesus come back in 2022?”) over the past couple of months:

Maybe.

NO ONE (but God) KNOWS–particularly all of the smiling faces who regularly make “end of the world” predictions in the media or on the Internet.

“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”
–Matthew 24:36

One thing readers may know FOR SURE on the subject: 2022 will bring the return of Jesus CLOSER to happening then 2021.

But, if the return of Jesus Christ does NOT happen in 2022, the same will be said of 2023–and so on until Jesus returns in clouds and glory.

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
–Matthew 24:29-31

5- 2022 will see more of the end times pieces moved into place for the last days.

Perhaps 2022 will see the China-USA war (with Russia helping out the Chinese) and the advent of the man of sin?

It is ALL speculation because NO ONE (but GOD) knows for sure.

May the reader have the happiest NEW YEAR’S EVE and NEW YEAR’S DAY possible!

One Great Problem With Trying to Physically Prepare For the End Times

One of the great difficulties with trying to PHYSICALLY prepare for the end times–or ANY time, actually–is the attempt to prepare for the UNKNOWN.

So many men prepare for the unknown by using what is KNOWN.

Therefore, whether the calamity is fire, flood, lack of food or whatever, the preparations almost always involve those who imagine themselves to be ‘prepared’ preparing for what is already KNOWN.

Which is ONE reason a great many preparations for different disasters look so much alike.

So that is the great problem these men have: they attempt to battle the UNKNOWN using what worked a few years ago.

Those events which mark the end times are PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN to man. Man has never gone through such events before and has NO experience dealing with them.

BUT, there will ALWAYS be those who believe they can outsmart God and God’s judgment. (This is one of the great disadvantages suffered by the devil, Satan.

Regardless of the many talents of the devil, he is NOT smarter than the God who created him. That Satan BELIEVES he is smarter is not one of the devil’s driving forces, it is one of his great weaknesses.)

STILL, Satan BELIEVES he is able to outwit his CREATOR.

And so, Satan–though gifted in a great many areas–persists in challenging God, who has repeatedly demonstrated down through the years, His superiority over the devil.

The men who try to PHYSICALLY prepare for the end are much the same: they believe they can outsmart God’s declared judgment. This includes all of those who believe they control the levers of power of this world.

But these men, again, are trying to prepare for something they have NO knowledge of and which is TOTALLY unknown to them.

These men might learn a thing or two by consulting God’s Word.

BUT, these men DO NOT believe God’s Word–so that is one more handicap they face in trying to be ready for what is coming to pass.

God’s reaction to these men?

God’s reaction is one of MIRTH rather than concern.

“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.”
–Psalm 2:4-5

IF ONLY all of the men who are trying to prepare for the end times would throw up their hands and shout, “Help! We don’t have any other ideas!”

AT LEAST there would be some honesty expressed.

But, they DO NOT.

And so, the men of TODAY attempt to prepare for the problems of an unknown TOMORROW using the methods of what was known YESTERDAY.

DOES the reader worry that he is not very well prepared for a time of calamity?

The Year-End Holidays: A Renewing of Old Acquaintances?

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

One of the PLEASANT MEMORIES of holiday get-togethers is the renewing of old, usually-once-CLOSER relationships.

This observation was made during a recent holiday family get-together.

It was observed that MANY of the attendees had broken up into groups of two or three. And–what was somewhat surprising–most of those groups consisted of those who were once bosom pals, but had, for one reason or another, drifted apart as they grew older.

In fact, of a large gathering of perhaps more than forty, over HALF had joined with those whom they had once enjoyed CLOSE relations.

Eavesdropping upon the many small groups, it was discovered that MOST were in the middle of reminiscing about days which were in the past.

And, judging from the many smiles which accompanied these forays into the past, these pasts were once-happier times–OR at least they were remembered as being happier.

Grown women were seen giggling over some long-past event.

Why do those who were once close drift apart?

Why does the reminding of those care-free earlier times often bring happy thoughts?

Why does the holiday get-together seem to specialize in these occasions?

The KEY phrase is “once-closer.”

This implies that what was ONCE intimate is now much colder and distant.

Sadly, today these get-togethers are largely relegated to the year-end holidays–when they occur AT ALL.

A question for the reader:

“Why don’t these get-togethers happen more frequently AND at other times of the year?”

[IF one determines the answer to this question, one might also be able to determine WHY the late night comics appear to specialize in deriding FAMILY get-togethers which occur during the holidays.]

There Once Was a Time When a Man’s Comfort and Convenience Were Not As Highly-Valued as They Are Today

“And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.”

IF a circumstance persists for a long enough time, the people who live during that circumstance will come to regard it as a normal and natural part of their lives; a usual state of affairs.

Of course these people–not having known ANY THING else in their lives—believe their circumstance is just a normal part of life FOR THEM (for whatever reasons they are given).

There are less fortunate people who do not have that circumstance because they do not work as hard; they are not as gifted; they are victims of their previous history; whatever.

And so it is that Americans have been taught from an early age that they somehow “deserve” the creature comforts and little daily conveniences they have enjoyed.

The rest of the world?

The rest of the world does not WORK AS HARD as Americans.

The rest of the world is not as CLEVER as Americans.

The rest of the world does not have the ADVANTAGES (material and otherwise) which Americans have used TO THEIR GREAT BENEFIT over the years.

Therefore, the rest of the world does NOT enjoy the conveniences and comforts which Americans do.

Americans have been INDOCTRINATED that this is a natural and GOOD state of affairs.

MANY Americans have grown accustomed to their many creature comforts.

So What Would Happen IF those comforts and convenience–many of which have been enjoyed by Americans from an EARLY age–SUDDENLY disappeared?

Yes, it would certainly be a shock to the system of MANY Americans who have grown accustomed to such advantages.

Yes, it would certainly be a jarring and unpleasant adjustment.

This leads to TWO questions.

1- Could Americans make an adjustment if they suddenly lost their comfort and conveniences?

2- Could Americans learn a NEW WAY OF LIFE which did NOT focus on the easy things of life?

It IS possible to learn a new way of life. One time-honored method of doing so is the carrot and stick.

“Thus, by every device from the stick to the carrot, the emaciated Austrian donkey is made to pull the Nazi barrow up an ever-steepening hill.”

Would Americans learn to do without?

It’s not like they have ALWAYS been comfortable, fat and sassy.

So, maybe.

MANY Americans DO value their comfort and convenience.

IN FACT, many Americans value their comfort and convenience over most other things–particularly, the truth. As long as their gravy train doesn’t bog down, most Americans will accept whatever they are told.

As long as they are comfortable.

So, THIS is the true state of Modern America.

Hard to believe that there once was a time when Americans valued OTHER things more than they valued their comfort and convenience.

[One last question: Does the reader believe that Americans will ALWAYS enjoy greater comfort and convenience than the rest of the world?

Why or why not?]
