The Glory of Man Cannot Compare With the Glory of God

glory

“Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.”
–Psalm 24:10

The world’s authorities never seem to grow tired of promoting man’s magnificence.

Whether it has to do with man’s inherent qualities, the products which he puts together, the buildings that he builds OR the schemes and systems which he claims makes this world so much more easy to abide, man promotes the GLORY OF MAN as if it was the highest achievement possible.

BUT, man  cannot hold a candle to the splendor and glory of the One Who Created All.

IN FACT, when referring to the GLORY OF GOD, it is important to keep ONE thing in mind.

“I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”
–Isaiah 42:8

Maybe this is why PRIDE is so abhorred by God?

Man-particularly MODERN MAN–puffs out his chest and proclaims “how proud I am.

A good portion of the time, this pride is stealing the glory of God.

Are you proud of your family?

Who was it that gave your family to you?

Are you proud of your achievements?

Who was it who bestowed those achievements?

Are you proud of your abilities?

From where did you get those abilities?

“Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”
–Jeremiah 9:23-24

Like so many other qualities, modern man believes PRIDE is a GOOD thing.

“Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.”
–Proverbs 16:5

In all of God’s Word, the Master of the Universe doesn’t say a whole lot about his splendor and magnificence.

BUT there are a few passages which address this topic.

The prophet Ezekiel described a vision of what God LOOKED like.

“And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me. Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.”
–Ezekiel 8:1-2

[Amber was a word used to denote electricity.] So, God is described as being a being of fire and electricity.

That is not only impressive, it is glorious.

The apostle John wrote a description of the vision he had of God in His throne room in Heaven.

“And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.”
–Revelation 19:1-4

A very magnificent scene, indeed!

God’s Word goes on to explain what the glory of man IS.

Not many moderns would agree.

“The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.”
–Proverbs 20:29

“The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.”
–Proverbs 16:31

And so, the things in which a man SHOULD glory, he tries to cover up in his vanity.

Regardless of what is being touted, the GLORY OF MAN cannot–and will NEVER be–what the GLORY OF GOD is.

HAS the reader ‘bought in‘ to the notion that man is the highest form of life?

It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
