Deception is a SPIRITUAL Problem, NOT an Informational One

“And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”
–Mark 7:20-23

HOW many times has the reader heard someone say–usually, rather forcefully–that “If I could only talk some sense into him (or her)….“?

HOW many times has the reader wondered about a friend, acquaintance or family member, who was engaged in some sort of behavior–such as drinking or misusing drugs–that was self-destructive?

“Everyone can see it but him!”

Has the reader EVER heard it said about someone “They would rather lie than tell the truth!  Even if telling the truth worked out better for them!”

IF the reader answered “Yes” to any of those three questions (or something fairly close to one of them), then the reader is acquainted with DECEPTION.

With a person who is DECEIVED.

An IMPORTANT point to remember about DECEPTION: deception is NOT an informational problem.  NO amount of new or startling information will persuade the deceived one to change the path he is on.

Deception is a SPIRITUAL problem.

Rather than information or logic or rhetoric, PRAYER to a merciful God will do more than all of the good information in the world to change someone’s path they are walking.

[Although many might claim that startling new information gave them pause or made them think about what they were doing, this is something that is said when the deceived person doesn’t want to bruise the other person’s feelings.]

Which brings up an interesting point about countering deception.

IF deception is a spiritual problem, handled by God Himself, then is the reader in ANY position to entreat God about ANYTHING?

Just a little something to keep in mind when dealing with the foibles of the ones one knows.

Deception is NOT something which can be countered by good information–or ANY information at all.

DOES the reader EVER ponder about deception?

It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

DOES the reader believe he is saved?

DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
