The Fearful: WHO Are the Fearful And Why Does God’s Word Hold Them in Such Low Regard?

The fearful.

WHO are ‘the fearful’ and WHY does God lump them together with murderers and whoremongers?

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
–Revelation 21:8

The SHORT ANSWER is: The fearful are those who do NOT believe God’s Word.

And God’s Word give a clue as to why this is.

“Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. “
–Isaiah 35:4

Those who TOTALLY believe God’s Word believe that God (and those who follow God and His Son, Jesus Christ) will ultimately triumph over all adversaries.

Those who TOTALLY believe God’s Word believe that GOD–not man–is truly worthy to be feared.

“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”
–Proverbs 29:25

Those who TOTALLY believe God’s Word are able to face their fears–particularly the fear of the unknown–by what Scripture tells believers about fear.

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
–Deuteronomy 31:6

IF the reader has a bit of TIME and an INTERNET CONNECTION, the reader might perform a little experiment.

The reader, after doing his searches for “fearfulness,” might take note of all of the ‘Christian’ websites addressing that topic AND see how many of those same websites try to convince their readers that THEY are NOT part of the fearful–for whatever reason.

(Those who do not believe God’s Word apparently are fearful that God will notice.)

Those who to NOT believe God’s Word settle for a weak tea of disbelief and fear. When one does not TOTALLY believe in God and God’s Word, then one is consigned to forever fear what is to happen when times and events become unsettled.

Those marked by fear–particularly a fear of man–make up the fearful.

In case the reader was wondering: this includes all of those consumed with WORRY.

Even the world recognizes the unproductive nature of WORRY.

“Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy.”
Leo Buscaglia

Essentially, what is WORRY but a fear of future events, with the worrier attempting to forge a good outcome by his concern and focus on those events over which he has NO control; of the one worrying desiring to hit upon the PERFECT way to deal with such uncertainties?

Those who worry have NO belief that God will save them.

God does NOT reward worry because worry is a manifestation of disbelief.

God does NOT reward those who deny his control of ALL events.

The reader need only fervently believe that God is ALWAYS in control.

ALWAYS.

This includes WORRY over the outcome of standing up for God and Jesus Christ when the times grow hard and men of iniquity seem to control the world and all that is in the world.

As Jesus Himself declared:

“Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”
–Matthew 10:32-33

In other words, ‘the fearful’ are those whose DISBELIEF lead them down a destructive path of worry, doubt and FEAR about God’s declarations.

Even when ‘the fearful’ mouth GREAT WORDS that they claim to believe: their fearfulness gives them away.

Most men would naturally expect an omnipotent God to deal harshly with DISBELIEVERS.

And so He does: even when those DISBELIEVERS demonstrate their DISBELIEF by their FEARFULNESS.

For what is FEAR and WORRY but that evil men will triumph over their Creator?

What is FEAR but a DISBELIEF of God’s promises?

What is FEAR but the accumulated doubt which lead mortal man into believing that Satan will triumph over an omnipotent God?

DOES the reader chase his (mental) tail by worrying about the future?

It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
