“The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn’t exist.”
–From the 1995 movie, The Usual Suspects. Earlier versions of the quote attributed to French writer, Charles Baudelaire (and others).
During the past 200 years or so, there has been a discussion over the maxim, “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing man that he didn’t exist.”
This discussion wandered in and out of the TREES of the matter (various trivial aspects) WITHOUT touching upon the FOREST (that which the quote alleges).
So, is convincing man that he doesn’t exist the devil’s greatest trick?
Might this explain the widespread belief that Satan is little more than a clever invention of early Christian writers; that Satan is an invention of Christianity?
Of course, such beliefs DISMISS the many lines of Scripture from the Old Testament, while attributing anything written about Satan in the New Testament to an unhinged, Christian obsession with GOOD and EVIL (evil being personified by Satan).
“And the great dragon…that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world”
This morphing of Satan (from The Tempter of Man into a bedtime story) suits end times man WELL: end times man WANTING to believe that MAN, NOT Satan, bedevils himself; that it is MAN who conceives and unleashes EVIL upon the world.
This notion is PROMOTED in the infamous quote, “Man’s inhumanity to man“–AS IF man (not Satan) was the chief architect of evil.
But this idea is only ONE of the many strands of disbelief woven into the tapestry of “Satan does NOT exist.” End times man has a difficult time believing in the existence of the devil, Satan, because end times man wants to believe in the supremacy of man IN ALL THINGS, including the formulation of EVIL.
End times man also wants to disbelieve the existence of Satan because end times man is deceived.
And, one might argue, end times deception begins with the denial of the existence of Satan.
DOES the reader believe that man is the Number One architect of evil?
It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?
THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
