Eternal salvation is purely a matter of God’s MERCY–and God’s mercy is shed upon those who strongly desire that salvation enough to fulfill its chief requirement: faith.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
–Ephesians 2:8-9
Very self-explanatory.
Pretty obvious.
Clear.
And yet, the tares who congregate in the buildings known as the churches, have turned that very clear and concise salvation into an exercise in number-crunching and bean counting.

(idiomatic, mildly derogatory) A person who is excessively interested in controlling or reducing expenses, increasing profits, or in quantitative details in general. The term is often used to imply the person is a pedant and incapable of seeing other things or the bigger picture (more general things), but it is also widely used as a mildly derogatory term and even facetious synonym for accountants, CEOs, CFOs, business and government officials responsible for financial decisions, etc.
To the tare, eternal salvation is not so much a matter of God’s mercy and grace as it is of 1- doing the right things at the right time; 2- appearing to be upright; and 3- keeping ahead of God’s math by piling up good behavior to offset the bad behaviors of which all are guilty.
Particularly HIGH UP on that eternal salvation equation are good deeds done for the church to which one belongs.
Which is one reason why those cheery folks who usually turn up for the church’s potluck dinners are usually so smiling and congenial: they not only are eating dinner, they are piling up markers for heaven!
Regardless of what a church official may claim, eternal salvation is ENTIRELY of God’s mercy/grace–and God’s mercy/grace is activated by a person’s faith.
Eternal salvation has NEVER been about plugging the right numbers into the right salvation equation.
Eternal salvation has ALWAYS been about God’s mercy and those who seek that mercy through faith in Jesus Christ.
“Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began”
–2TIMOTHY 1:9
WHAT are the reader’s thoughts on eternal salvation?
IS the reader a number-crunching bean counter?
DOES the reader believe that one must have enough ‘good’ deeds to offset the bad?
It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
Make Your Calling and Election Sure: End Times Survival
DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?
Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
